As someone with an older brother who joined the military because of recruiters and the amount of young men fresh out of high school that were at the bases I've visited is fucking insane. It's disgusting how common glorification of war is and how people see grown adults talking to kids who don't think they have a future about how they should kill innocent people and sell their bodies to the government as normal is absolutely vile

Super random tangent , but when I wanted to join the army reserves so I could get a paid education I remember letting the recruiter know a couple of health issues I had going on at the time. they literally told me if I wanted to get in to lie and not tell them what was going on with me because they didn’t want anyone “sick”……I was like 18 at the time so I wasn’t noticing a ton of the red flags I noticed now. Oh also was having a hard time at home and she kept bringing up how I’d have an escape at the base 😂 . Im happy I was considered too underweight to join bc I dodged a bullet.

This. I've had this conversation with my mom, or about recruiters coming to high schools at least, and her response is "At least they can make their own choice." Yeah, but you're the same woman who constantly reminds me that the human brain isn't fully developed until you're in your mid to late twenties and you won't comprehend that the military is really only recruiting young because they're impressionable and easy to coerce because they know most people who are older won't even think of joining. Wtf is with people. But you have no right to diminish what anybody has gone through. He was forced to go to Vietnam and because of it he now has to live with PTSD, Parkinson’s, anxiety, OCD, and depression. He too is a victim of American Imperialism.

@@disappointedmess209 you are right but there was a draft. my grandfather is indigenous but sent to a "re-education" style "boarding school" for indigenous youth, i believe it was because they believed reservations hard to brainwash. anyway. they drafted my papa but since he was already a certified Nurse, he was a military nurse as well. Not only did they force him to go, but they also injected him and many other non-white military nurses with sand fly fever which he describes as the most excruciating pain of his life. and he is still sick to this day there are so many victims of US imperialism, but in the case of the draft -- thats nuanced.

I am currently a military spouse at 18, my husband joined the military last year, I remember crying a lot because I told him it's not going to be what he's being told by his recruiter, and it isn't, the recruit lied about a few things when it came to what we could expect, he made it seem better than it is, which I suspected was going to happen, my husband now has worse anxiety, stress levels and depression, luckily I'm in a better place mentally to be able to be there for him. But im stressed and frustrated too and we haven't even gottent to our base home yet. I've never liked the military and all this bs makes me dislike it more, it's so weird that this girl is profiting off of so many peoples pain and suffering.

Like he knows more about very technical stuff than any of them, and he's also physically capable of beating someone's ass. [except a few other active duty ppl, and we do love those guys to pieces] tell your husband to only ever give 80%. never 100%. cause once they see you give 100% they want 120% for the grand prize of... forgetting to pay you multiple times and letting your rent go unpaid. i am glad he's getting help though. it's so rough to go through that shit without a professional.

Hi! Military spouse here 🤡 Okay so the “not endorsed by DOD” is something they have to put in their bio or else they can get in trouble with their command. Tbh I love Miltok for the funny videos of them goofing off in the barracks or the field, basically making light out of a shitty situation they’ve been forced in. Not many of these kids have even seen combat and as many comments have said, the majority have been targeted by recruiters in high school and signed up bc they either believed the glorified sales pitch from their recruiter or thought they didn’t really have another option since they may not have had a stable home life, financial means, or a decent education. Tbh most servicemen and women hate what they’ve joined and you can find a bunch of TikTok’s of it like the trend of them asking each other “what would you say to your recruiter rn?” “FUCK YOU BRO YOU LIED”. Of course there are always the cringe motivated yee yee folk who do genuinely wanna see combat and those are the people who usually re-enlist while the rest gtfo as soon as possible. And then there are the people who try to ignore the atrocities to maintain a steady job and likely the respect from their families. Either way I see all military members as victims of war machine and capitalism. If they had better opportunities or were shown the truth of what the US military has done to innocent people, I doubt many would have joined in the first place.

Idk if this is just me but I guess I've been put on some list of "potential recruits" because I just graduated highschool last year and I'm now just working a part time job not in college and every couple months two people in full military get up will come up to me WHILE I'M WORKING and ask me questions like what school I go to what college I plan on attending and then if I'd like to join the military. dude what the hell, part of the military is not having a personality. there is a literal week in basic training called “shark week” where it’s literally just them screaming at them for 7 whole days while they train so that they lose all sense of self. being in the military is being a number, just a soldier, not an actual person. IMO she’s def not actually in the military.

About the govt using games to promote enlisting: it happened at my school like a year ago they took my class outside and had everyone line up to wait their turn to get on a bus and play some shooting game. to advertise. the actual military. fuckin’ wild. Also since the place i live is pretty military heavy we get speakers and recruiters literally all the time and i stay as far away from them as i can because they can be REAL pushy.

@@anitachamberlain3391 basically, if u have a degree or are in the process of getting a degree, you can go thru programs like ROTC or OTS and be appointed as an officer instead of climbing thru the enlisted ranks (knowledge from my very short time in AFROTC until the DOD decided to beat my ass)

I used to follow this girl before she became completely military oriented and she had talked abt how she joined the military right out of high school bc she was mentally ill and did not like it and had to serve her time and it was just like a random thing she would very occasionally post abt and then she started to get attention for it and developed into this..... so i do believe she is actually in the military and is just profiting off what she sees makes her popular
