After one deployment, I took my young son out of elementary school for the day to pick his dad up at the airport 4 hours away. We made one stop on the way home and someone asked why our son was not in school. I thought: Give us a f____n' break; and I shouldn't have to explain myself. But, I prefaced it with, "He is doing well in school, and he has permission from his principal...dad's military..." They did not reply with any cordial response one might expect to hear, i.e. "Thank you for your sacrifice and service." Maybe dad was out of uniform, and they didn't believe a word we said. I decided that it doesn't matter what others think, say, or don't say. My happiness does not rely on others. I want civilians to know that each family has a right to choose how they want to reunite, so don't make it harder for them after a long absence.☮️

Thank you for your service. When military, the whole family serves. I am grateful for the sacrifice of you snd your children that allows your husband to have all of our backs. I took my oldest kid out of school to attend his brother's zoo firld trip. No one said a thing. But you are questioned for bringing your son to meet a hero. Ridiculous!

You know that has to be so hard on him to leave his children for work. My son is in the military & his 1 year baby girl was totally off after he would be gone in training… she would roam the house looking for him, grabbing his pictures off the table & even screamed & ran to his brother because she thought it was him for a few seconds when he came to our house. Our military families sacrifice a lot.
