Was stationed at offutt 70 to 71 our barracks were no were near your new or old dorms we had 1 room for 3 people the rest room wer a community rest room Down the hallway No kitchen no refrigerator just 3 beds a desk and 3 closets

@@poloypalang2674 I've only seen the 2-bed version and the 4-bed version. Most of them were converted from open bay barracks. (A welcome upgrade at the time.) By the 1980s most bases had built new dorm buildings.

I got to Offutt maybe Feb 85 and lived in the oldest brick dorms with community bathrooms for 6 months before moving into the next newest dorms with shared bathroom for 2 rooms / 4 persons. I was on Offutt a few years ago and those old brick dorms still standing but the others were torn down. Offered off base housing allowance after a year and couldn't move off base fast enough.

I would prefer the old dorm since the room is bigger. When I was in the Air Force in the 1980s I used my own furniture instead of the furniture provided by the Base. (You can put unwanted furniture in storage just like families can with furniture they don't want to use.) Or I would rent an apartment off base. Most Air Force dorms in the 1980s were like the old one shown in the video. (Minus the community kitchen.) They didn't trust single people cooking in the dorm back then.

@@poloypalang2674 Most common was 1 roommate. Although for women it was often more common to not have a roommate. Because a whole floor or a whole building would be either male or female. And often there weren't enough females to not have any empty rooms available. I've had no roommates and I've had 3 roommates. It all depends on the base your stationed at.
