William the Conquerer and his Normans were not "French", they were ethnic "Norse or Vikings" that had Conquered part of France which they called "Normandy" the land of the Norsemen. They may have spoken French due to the length of time that they lived and traded in France but the basic English language of the common people did not change when William became King of England. England was never colonised by the French people only nobles from Normandy who took titles and stole land, and French was only spoken in Court, the bulk of the English resented the Normans and William could only retain land by building huge castles up and down England to secure it. By the time of Agincourt the King Henry regarded himself as English and his army was 100% English so lets have less of this ..Agincourt was a battle between rival French Kings.
