Oh I really hope to see more collaborations with Chase Hughes to find out from series if the interrogation and profile skills shown are true and real. Love this

To be fair, that first scene from Criminal Minds isn't an interrogation, as such. It's actually a research interview. The guy is a sadist who gets off on menacing and then killing people. He has already been tried and convicted, but he has said he will now talk to the profilers and tell his story. The interview is taking place in a maximum security prison, which is why it's not an office setting.

I saw your Mentalist reacts to the Mentalist video on your other channel, but I think this channel is the better venue for this: I would LOVE to see you react to the TV series Lie to Me - what about it is accurate, what's over-the-top, actor portrayals, the works. So much of what I'm learning on your channel I remember actually being introduced to on that show, and so far I've been pretty impressed with a lot of what they seem to have done right with the basics on the show. Would absolutely love to hear your take on it!

Until extremely recently, I worked as a professional role-player for law enforcement training, and a huge part of my job was mock interviews and interrogations. As a result, I know the process the particular agencies I worked with use in their interrogations inside out and backwards, and I gotta say... if a trainee came at me super aggressively and demeaningly like the guy in that third video (which is, thankfully, a rare occurrence, cause they're trained *not* to do that), I guarantee that trainee was walking out of there with absolutely nothing but my abject disdain and an artfully placed "Fuck you". It always makes me twitch when I see these smug, condescending, aggressive interrogators in movies and TV shows, cause that just.... yeah no. I know exactly what I'd say if some jackass came back at me with, "I decide when you're done talking." It'd be, "Oh, you think so?" as I proceed to silently stare daggers at him until the inevitable heat death of the universe. Y'all are dead right that convincing perps you're on their side is the way to go. Antagonizing them is a great way to get a sealed clamshell and that's it
@joaks9178
@joaks9178 2 жыл бұрын
No don't hate on Derek Morgan!! No lol, I love the show but that takes ignoring certain things sometimes. In criminal minds Morgan was assaulted as a child so I think that's why he was so aggressive toward a potential predator, so maybe they should have sent in Reid or Hotchner instead.
@CountessOfOle
@CountessOfOle 2 жыл бұрын
@@joaks9178 Hey, I mean, I've never watched Criminal Minds, so if there's a good reason the character's behaving the way he is, then I got no hate for the character! Shoot, some of the characters I've played have 100% earned the scorn the aggressive trainees toss at 'em., lol. Problem is, my characters don't think they've earned the scorn the trainees toss at 'em. They always think they've got a good reason for doing what they did. So, all I'm saying is that guy ain't gonna get very far in his interrogation coming at a suspect like that. From what you're saying, sounds like they def should have sent in a more neutral person to interrogate the guy.

Fun Fact: both of these interrogations from Criminal Minds didn’t really work in the show either I’d love to see a reaction to one of the really well executed interrogations that actually get a confession or trick the suspect like s2e10 “Lessons Learned” which I think shows the whole team at their best with behavior analysis in real time. Also, it’s pretty much a full episode interrogation so lots to work with there!

Had to pause to run some errands but gonna keep going now sorry lol. But WOW Spide... This one is... 🤯🤯🤯 I'm blown away, so much great information! And look! One of your favorite movies has the Phantom on it. The irony haha So... I love how sometimes we feel something is more likely to work but we don't know why. I think it's pretty common we get the feeling that the chances of talking successfully about certain subjects are going to be bigger when there are less people together in the same place. I guess this is common sense and Chase just explained it's done in interrogations. 😄 Amazing. I wanted to ask about something. When he talks about the "we" and "them" thing. Again... very intuitive. Makes so much sense. BUT... I was wondering, and this is not the first time I've questioned myself about it. Why do you think this succeds? Because... can't the person spot this as a part of the techniques? I'm not saying it shouldn't work. It's acctually the apposite... I'm trying to figure out what triggers us into falling for it anyways. I thought maybe...🙈omg I'm so embarrased to say something silly hahaha... I wondered if it's about the emotional side of things... maybe feeling someone "on your side" makes you want confess about something you feel guilty about. Aaaaaah 😀Excited to check the next one.

Chase is so top-notch, so chilled, so humble. V impressive. All this video has shown me is how dreadful these shows are, they're almost parody. I'm a lay person and that Criminal Minds one was so obviously off - the demeanour of the criminal and yes his glasses (!) and the incompetent nervous officer, OMG. "My kids watch it" 😱 Really? How old are these kids? I hope at least 20. Criminal Minds is the show with the sickest plots I've seen on TV. Mandy Patinkin, after quitting it, said that he found it greatly disturbing. While I do understand that there's a need for an artistic exploration of the topic of violence, this show, when it comes to the plots of the crimes, is rather an adoration of violence.

I found it interesting to see how much he just sat there and took in information. Looking at and commenting on the movie scenes was actually a bit of a distraction for him. He was busy putting the pieces together about Spidey. Also, the difference in energy between the two was quite amusing. Chase was cool, calm, and collected, while Spidey was excited and gushing. It was the type of contrast I'd expect to see when a schoolgirl meets the latest Hollywood heart-throb. Amusing, but come on, man! Chill a bit! Slow down and let yourself mellow a little. You look up to him, I get it. His skills are impressive. But it would work a lot better if you were to try to emulate Micheal Parkinson (of the program "Parkinson") or Andrew Denton (of the program "Enough Rope"). All of that being said, you went a lot better than the BBC interviewer of Elon Musk! 😉

Chase is amazing, obviously. It this Criminal minds was not an interrogation. He’s not in jail or a police station. They are consulting him and made arrangements to see him with the prison. This is a convicted psychopath it’s not about his crime they don’t want a confession from him it’s not about that in this instance. The Law Abiding Citizen scene was not an interrogation it was after the fact again. They had a history in real life and there’s no question on either side it’s done. It’s an interesting idea for a show but it would be more interesting and helpful if you reviewed actual interrogations from Hollywood.
