What about scapula position along the way? Some recommend shrugging at the top to avoid impingement. Others say keep scaps stable, back and down. What do you advocate?

Why has the pressed changed over time? In the old ways, they super arched the back to press it....

It is because in the 60's up to 1972 when the Press got banned, it was a competitive lift in the Olympics. Earlier, the Olympic rules were stricter, but due to rivaltry between the eastern block and the capitalist countries, the cold war, the style degraded to such an extent that it was both getting very dangerous for athletes and almost impossible to judge. This video shows a non competitive version of the lift wich is safer and aimed as a supplemental lift to the bench press.
