I know exactly where this came from and he is selling it in his programs to trainers like yourself. He refers to himself as the trainer of trainers, It was not originally his idea. He saw it done in his gym and now he sells it. He never really liked training people one on one in person.

Sport usually involves strength, stamina, strategy and skill. It is where contestants go head-to-head to see who is the best. Lifting weights can be a sport. Running can be a sport. Fighting can be a sport. Arm wrestling can be a sport. Even som videogames (eg gorilla tag) can be sports. But trying to get the biggest muscells is closer to a male beauty pagent than a sport.

Forgot to mention GLUCAGON is the first trigger with cortisol and other stress factors when FF low blood sugar-it does so so much more harm …Glucagon is traditionally thought of as an antihypoglycemic hormone, for example in response to starvation. However, it actually increases energy expenditure and has other actions not in line with protection from hypoglycemia. Furthermore, it is often found to be elevated when glucose is also raised, for example in circumstances of psychological and metabolic stress. These findings seem more in keeping with glucagon having some role as a hormone enhancing the response to stress. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3281544/

I'm 70 now and when I was a competing power lifter as a teenager we used to Vaseline our thighs so the bar would slide up easier. We would no more have the bar away from our body than fly to the moon, not much progress since then it would appear. All the best from the UK

Bodybuilders dont need a base of strength FIRST,its the muscle fibers hypertrophy that increseas strength / apart from technique.

Hello, If im around 37% body fat, and I power clean 230 lb, how much would decreasing fat increase the power clean, if everything else (power output, muscle mass) stays the same? Am I wrong to think that since I have to accelerate both the bodyweight and the barbell, getting rid of 25lb of bf should add roughly that amount to the clean? Thank you

@@natbromden5838 sadly it doesn’t work like that. Most weightlifters train 10-20lbs heavier than they compete in and most lose some strength in the process. I understand your logic, and it might be true if all you lose is fat. But the reality is that it’s rarely the case. Even if you successfully diet off 25lbs of fat without losing ANY muscle (which, from experience is much much harder than you seem to believe) strength will often come down a bit due to less water retention, lower glycogen stores and more central fatigue. Water and glycogen help strength through I improved internal leverage and passive joint stability. And as someone who has dieted off 25-35lbs of fat very often (doing it right now) simply maintaining strength is a big victory. One underestimated thing is that intense dieting/fat loss phase leads to significant central fatigue which decreases the strength of the neural drive to the muscles, reducing fast twitch fibers activation and thus strength and power. A good real life example is JM Blakely, a powerlifter who would compete in 4-5 weight classes per year. He would bulk up to 300+ and compete then as he dieted down over a year he would compete in the 308, 275, 242, 220. And while he would get stronger from year to year he would lift less as he dropped the weight. For example, he’d bench 710 in the 308, 650 in the 275, 606 in the 242 and 584 in the 220…. I understand that it’s not the same as a power clean, but you also have the example of most weight lifters lifting less, or at best, the same when they lose 10-20 to make their class

@@natbromden5838 another thing to add to my lengthy first reply. While it’s true that the extra bodyweight is something that you have to lift up (not 100% of it, I’d say around 75% in the clean and squat), bodyweight helps in part of the lift: when you are lifting the bar from the floor to the knees. Your bodyweight actually counterbalance the weight of the trying to shift you forward. As you get lighter it’s more likely that you get pulled forward in the first pull, giving you worse leverage. Or it makes you work harder to keep the bar on the proper path. Giving you less ressources for the explosion

@@natbromden5838 last reply. I once dropped around 20-25lbs to compete in a lower weight class. While my snatch was not impacted (but didn’t improve either) my clean and jerk decreased by 7.5kg/15ish lbs. And every clean felt much heavier

Post workout carbs will decrease insulin sensitivity right? As u fill up glycogen and protein sensitivity is elevated for hours if insulin sensitivity stays high. So hit protein and fats to keep the so call anabolic window open. Dr mauro di pasquale
