I am from the south Indian state Kerala. I was 1st year BA student when the civil war started in East Pakistan subsequent on the general election of Pakistan in 1970. The civil war in course of time turned into an Indo Pak war in which Pakistan was totally defeated on both fronts and its eastern wing seperated and became another country known as Bangladesh. If there was No India Pak war in 1971 there would never be any Bangladesh at all.

Salute each of those greats in the panel for what they are and what they have done (just hearing itself am getting goosebumps and emotional tears - then how much people involved with would feel /felt ) For current generation of Bangladesh friends would suggest to know more about "Zahir" rather than what is "Zakir" Media, Movies should explore more on these 1971 historic eastern side events rather keep reinventing opportunities for western conflicts in new bottle In such conclave which is supposed to respect such greats should have not restrict or talk about time - atleast especially not when those legends were expressing themselves or recounting key moments. Our fight against Pakistan was always for pride , respect culture and independence .Today the way Indian's people behave is heartbreaking. no respect for us calling us poor ,thinks that they a can take our country any time,interfering in our politics and government.with all due respect we are giving a lot to india for last 45 years,our land,our gas, port,road,our river,our recourses for almost free.At least we deserve some respect .Most Indians think that India soldiers came fought for few days gave us independence.they do not have any respect for those million freedom fighters,who fought for 9 months and destroyed pak army from inside .india joined a lot later.while pak army knew they can never win .this is documented truth.but no matter we can never deny India help.But we have gave enough and India need to stop interfering and taking so much advantage from us.And those who think we are worse than india see this Bangladesh is now a better country than India in - - Global Hunger Index - GDP per capita - GDP Growth Rate - Life Expectancy - Environment Protection Index - Global Terrorism Index - Happiness Index - Fertility Rate - Sex Ratio - Unemployment Rate - Petrol Price - Global Peace Index Following indicators are almost similar, but India is slightly ahead - - Press Freedom Index - Human Development Index And India remains clearly ahead in following - - Ease of doing Business - Democracy Index

Brother we didn't fought the 1971 war for enjoy the rule over a land or for showing supremacy the war was forced upon us and it was for safeguarding humanity our soldiers laid there lives of people of other country and how can you belittle the training given by raw ,Indian army to mukti bahini and do you really think mukti bahini would had came victorious without indian army ? I am sorry to say but I don't think that's a practical thought in any way with pakistan being supported by america,China and the power they had and economy hold they possessed that time.
