Unlike other military fixed-wing aircraft, the AC-130 relies on visual targeting. We were flown in to a mountain top strip by a C130. Then we were flown out a few days later. Reving the engines so hard thought they would blow up. We took off and everyone slid backwards, and on the climb the tree tops scraped the bottom of the plane. Best pilots in the world including the Huey Choppers. C130s built in the 50s are still a workhorse of the military. Hats off to the pilots
