Maybe a rather irrelevant question, but it has to do with the AP and HE markings. Could this be because of it being a paratrooper / highly deployable kit with a unit that would rely on re-supply from other units after deployment? A modernised one with computer assisted targetting and better optics is still an exceptionally viable vehicle. Frankly I would honestly say this is more viable on a modern battlefield than most MBT's if it wasn't for the fact that its armour can be defeated by most light vehicle mounted weaponry. I was on the staff of the NATO Multi National Division Centre which was the air mobile division of the ARRC (Allied command europe, Rapid Reaction Corps). Our very first field exercise was in Denmark early 90s and the 31st Luftlande Brigade was equipped with these excellent armoured vehicle. However they were deployed by helicopter. Most impressive.

A Paratrooper Platoon is frightening. Hey let’s give them a 20mm Machine Cannon on a very fast vehicle. Place it on the Top, so that the Operators don’t have to present a lot of their quite vulnerable front and can quickly escape the backfire. A very good idea. At least for the Paratroopers.

This was a cool video. For me, the Wiesel name caught my eye, back in the mid 1960's I rode a school bus from our small village out to a rural schoolhouse in North Dakota. One of the last stops was at a small farm a few miles from the school. The owner of the farm had a snow plane and a Wiesel tracked vehicle. Since the snow in the Dakota's can be treacherous from time to time, that farmer was a God Send to the local population when it became necessary to transport an injured person or pregnant lady to hospital, and his units often became the rescuer for those who were not wise enough to stay home when the snow began to blow across the prairie of the Dakota's. He saved dozens of lives with his units, in fact there is a memorial in place at a local museum for his rigs and the owner. I knew his children very well, sadly they have all passed on now, this does make me a bit sad, but I am an old man now and many of my closest friends and family have passed on.

They probably wouldn't be too bad in a zombie apocalypse if it was just you and a buddy. You forgot to go over one very important thing in this video. How does the track tensioning system on this vehicle work? That's a very important thing you know. You also should have done the Chieftain's ever popular, "Oh, bugger, the tank's on fire" test as well.

This little dude is so cool. I generally prefer wheels over tracks, but this is possibly one of the few cases where tracks are useful for their compactness and no need for elaborate steering and suspension parts. The fuel efficiency and firepower/mobility per transportation effort are also really great. Basically, this is like an M2 Bradly, but instead of being a lumbering coffin for the infantry inside, the tankette itself is pretty much an infantry team. Ton for ton, and man for man, these little guys have much more firepower than the Bradley, which is already very formidable.

Exactly. A couple of years after I was a loader on a TOW Wiesel these things were deployed to Afghanistan, a scenario they were not designed for. When you are fighting insurgents 4mm of armor and an anti tank missile are not ideal. A 40mm machine grenade launcher and an M4 Carl Gustav plus some additional armor would make more sense.

Einstein, Newton and Pascal decide to play hide and seek. Einstein is "it", closes his eyes, counts to 10 then opens them. Pascal is no where to be seen. Newton is sitting right in front of Einstein, with a piece of chalk in his hand. He’s sitting in a box drawn on the ground, a meter to a side.
