I found that if you car hits at least 120mph you could do a small jump with a gap in between then 90% of the time the cops will crash and give you the extra rep at any heat level.

1 more mistake: some people put drift tires, suspension and diff on their drift car. A better option is to put drag tires, road suspension and showcase diff. Then live tune it to your liking. I use max steering sensivity and low downforce. On the palm city raceway i got 137,000 in my rx7 (one of the best drift cars). I know this comment is very late but hopefully some new players see this

Not a mistake but a tip: if you aren’t in a chase, cops only have a small field in which they can actually spot you. Exploit this as much as you can. Second tip: always keep a marker for the Edgewood valley mall. When you get to the roof top, cops won’t follow you up

Another tip I learned: offroad helps. It only impacts your on-road performance a little bit, but you will have much bigger margin of error, and much, much more ease on evading/escaping cops. (They don't patrol off-road and have limited off-road performance)

Yeah, it doesn't help that the game kinda motivates you to get high heat to multiply the rep. And if you go safe and retire after one or two night races, you get taunted by the NPCs as you go into your garage early lol

Adding to the last one, that being said, you can actually hit LVL50 at night without progressing the story. If you're having trouble just do Night over and over until you're at LVL50 (Jumps and Speedtraps are a good way to rack up rep fast), THEN switch to daytime to get money and cars. That's how I Did it.

Same that’s how I did it. Did the speed trap at the raceway when it became available and then just did the day race there. If it’s not unlocked yet then either smash more during the day or you may need to do another mission or two. But I haven’t even completed the very first drift “tutorial” and I’m max lvl with U+ parts. Enjoy the grind. P.S. do the race 2 then go to garage and repeat to reset the money. Some races it’s best to do only once.

The trick is to listen the the police chatter... if you hear: find him, get out your brooms, etc in a female voice.. just hide in the centre (I hid on the ramp under the structure in the centre of the raceway) wait for the all clear call, then verify on your map that all the cars have left... do another loop. You might get 1 loop, you might get 4 loops before the next radio call.. just hide before they see you.... just do the speed trap loop... if you need to run do the jump. The second you see "ESCAPED" dive into the centre and hide

My friend and i both picked the mustang as our starter car yesterday. We both upgraded them to be fast enough to outrun the cops at heat lv 5. We grinded to rep 32 in 2 hrs. Just found some boat jumps and speed traps that go in a circle in the city and just let the cops fall in the water when chasing us lol. Super fun game. Hype to play it 5 years after release for the first time and see a great game with no complaints other than no cockpit view. Glad to join the community

One more thing with rookie players, they always try to get thier car to road/race stats, and as fast as possible. With certain missions and races, this can be not so beneficial, because the game tries to get you to play all 4 types of racing: off road, racing, on road, and drifting.

You are completely right about not using the handbrake when drifting! Only use the handbrake if it’s a really sharp turn, if not a sharp turn, just use the regular brake and hold for about half a second (varies on the corner).

I've always had a really tough time with turns and some vehicles at high-speeds, Lamborghini's striaght up don't ever start drifting at high-speeds, and my Charger also won't drift unless i hold it for like 5 seconds, and most turns in the tracks don't allow you that much time to do so, so i end up going off-track or hitting a wall/vehicle. Any tips other than something along the lines of "start drifting earlier", most turns don't give you enough time (or space) to do so

Thanks, just got the game 2 days ago. It's on sale right now. This was really helpful. Currently Rep lvl 21. You are right about not buying any car initially. It's not important. I only bought one car before I hit lvl 16 which is the Infiniti Q60 because I was bored with the BMW and I had tons of cash 😀. For people who are having trouble in escaping from cops at low Rep lvl, you can simply go to the race track in Palm city race way district. I am talking about the one where you will also find a race event called 'The Resort's Circuit'. You can easily escape lvl 3 heat as well by going there. I learnt this trick by watching one of militia's earlier video. Militia, your contents are really good and you seriously deserve getting many many many more subscribers. ALL THE BEST. 🙏

If you are in a bad situation during night, go to the palm city speedway. It works best if you have a car over 200 power, but you can basically outrun the cops if you go there.

I’m 9 months late but you can also go to the Edgewood valley mall with the car park and hit the jump and get on the roof. Once in a while 1 cop will make it up there but you can deke it out or go down and go back up. If your heat 5 the chopper might try to bust you on the roof but just move around and it will leave.

Highways outside the city are also a good way to escape the cops but you better have a car that can go 375kph. Cops can't catch you at that speed regardless of the heat.

The biggest mistake I made was earning enough money to buy a decently fast car, upgraded it quickly, participated in high speed races and focused too much of night racing because of how thrilling the cop chases are. I decided to reset and I'm trying to win as many races as I can for the class of car that should go to that particular event to keep things challenging. So far I'm having a better time pacing myself and having a lot more money to purchase more vehicles vs upgrading one.

As a veteran, I agree with most of these tips. There are some great cars you can get before level 16, including the Lotus Exige at Level 4, and the Nissan 240Z at level 12. However, you would still need to get to level 16 anyway to unlock better parts, so it's a great early goal to shoot for.

I bought that car the moment I unlocked it because it was one of my mains in Payback (the other being the C10, those two were my favorite derelicts). However, even the starter Mustang was better base-wise. The moment I got that engine, the starter Mustang was turned into my drift build.

Can some of the stats be explained by overall weight? IRL, from the factory, the challenger showed weighed 4,170 lbs with 470hp, and the rsr weighed 1,852 lbs with 308hp. If the game is just taking horsepower into account for the "power" stat, that would make sense for that one. Little different for the acceleration stat though, that one doesn't make sense to me.

Quick thing I learned in the game as a beginner. If you’re a player with a low level car and you start getting overwhelmed by a cop chase, there’s a section in the map where you can jump a ramp over water and make it out of a chase most of the time. This section is in Downtown Palm City, and is next to the Bannister race. It’s a small port with boats that has a ramp of both north and south sides of it. Hopefully you know what I’m talking about. It’s an easy way to lose cops and to gain some heat multiplier as a low level. Still, be careful when doing it because you won’t make the jump at low speeds or the cops may just go around the ramp to get you. Leaving you with a good 5 to 15 seconds to get the heck out of there.

The only change I can think of is, you can take on heat lvl 3 cops with slow cars, but learn to play smart and use the map. Just go to night in solo mode, as in solo, when you open the map it will pause the game and you can look for high jumps or normal jumps or billboards. As for some reason cops will not jump and if they do, their cars would be totaled. Hopefully this helps. :)

I am Level 50 and a big mistake is to Grind Money when you are new. You need the Rep and when a cop catches you you lose your Hard earned Money. At first you only need the Rep!

To be honest the higher heat levels should be locked in early game. But also to be honest I never had any fun running from the cops in heat so maybe the issue is the pursuit system is inherently not fun

Since I'm more of the type of player that stays with the starter car and upgrades it NFS:U2 style, I never have a problem with money in car games. And I love that. [Edit] I basically passed the entire game with the stock engine that the 180sx came with. It was after I finished it that I went here to YT and actually went and searched for a 180sx build, which I then proceeded to use the one shown by this channel for track. XD Now my car is hella fast.

I noticed a mistake that was made by the game devs instead of the players regarding the Mustangs. The starter stang that they call a 65 is either a 67 or 68 (not sure which since I am less familiar with those years than the previous 2 years) and the 65 that you can buy at the dealer has details of both the 65 and 66. I will always pick the classic mustang since I can make it look like my 66 that has been my daily driver for nearly 30 years.

It's a tail light mod. You can put the '65-'66 lights on it as a mod. Starter cars give you a few body mods right away

Man I regret it cause the 180sx and M3 were leagues better, wish there was a video telling me the mustang was dogwater when I started too but I guess its an ok drifter, I jist picked it cause I like muscle cars and assumed muscle cars would be OP like in Carbon (I havent played an NFS game between Carbon and Heat)

Liked the mustang, chose it, on rep 10 I bought the dodger Couse of the look and the better stats, I somehow always accidentally get to heat level 3 while trying to escape a level 2, and I was starting to like the hand break better that the normal drifting 😂

Low level heat 5 is easy to do and deal with as long as you are on one location... the race track. Honestly try this... just do the speed trap loop. If you hear anything over the radio, hide in the centre of the course (the ramp under the tunnel is my choice). Once you hear the all clear, check your map to make sure any cop car has left the circuit... then do another loop. I did a 3 hour grind in a low level car (one that struggled to get 2 stars) to get my 1 million rep trophy. You might only get 1 loop, you might get 4 before the next radio "get out your brooms and sweep the area!" call. But as long as you hide the second you hear the clock of the radio, you'll never be in a chase.

You're kidding right? No E brake is faster? OK bud, you keep thinking that. The "Drift mechanic" you're talking about is NOT going to work when you're coming into a sharp corner at 200+ mph 😂 At that point, the E brake is very much needed and I've found that using the "Drift mechanic" to make a turn actually slows you down to the same speed limit as using the E brake. It's best to use E brake for sharp turns, Drift mechanic with the wider corners turns. Relying on the Drift mechanics all the time is just going to mess your turns.

2:50 - Handbrake is a must in case of very sharp corners where you go something like 300+, or in emergency situations to avoid hard collisions, otherwise - yeah, sometimes you even want to keep your gas pedal on when braking, it prevents the car from spinning/wobbling like crazy.

The starter car tip will only come into effect once you start betting the cash to engine swap as the 180 and 89 Bimmer will not actually be faster top end with their stock engines. Since you need to engine swap ans engines ain't cheap, its a matter of preference since the small block v8 in the Mustang is actually the best engine of the starter cars. Also a tip not mentioned would be understanding the live tuning which will help you corner better and literally allow some of the more agile cars (like the RSR) to power through many turns without braking.

I know it's been used a lot but ramps... ramps if you are that person who still wants to chance it in a low level car and get to heat 3 or 5, some ramps can kill cop cars for eaay getaways... one example is the one at the very end of the yacht dock next to the ramp that jamps over the begining part of the tram in downtown, saved me several times during my 3rd LP.

I literally finished the WHOLE game with the starter Mustang. The whole story, very last race, 50 REP levels, and before I bought a single other car. And I only lost ONE race that I had to redo, and it wasn't even the last race. I literally won EVERY other race on the first try. Yes, I had the game set to easy, but STILL!

I would say stay away from the Skylines. Both R34 and R35 are garbage in this NFS. Or maybe it's because I accidently chose the 911 RSR which is ridiculously fast.
