So he could see the tanks in real life and think about the horrors real combat/war actually is (compared to a computer game) ... It was a eye-opener for him and he really learned a lot in this museum. Good place to visit.

I remember going to this museum around 2007 / 2009. It was on a Sunday (it was cool --there was no one sitting out at the time). And as the nice lady (Ms. Rita) was saying, I could see there was so much more there in the video than I saw as I walked around. It was my first visit to any war museum and my firsthand [not TV this time] encounter with a single person 'pill-box'.... I could see that from the build, the only way the person inside was going to be affected by anything coming from the outside was with a direct hit -- and from a very large shell. And there was a little boy speaking (he was a talker) and we locked eyes and then he started speaking to me. Of course, I knew no Dutch and all could do was smile. And I could not help that he 'knew' that... Yes, little things like that did contribute to my walk around the grounds. Yes, seeing the vehicles actually move was fascinating. to Ms. Rita -- An excellent promo' for the museum. Very glad to see how much the museum has grown. Look like good crowds for 2019. Wishing much success in the future. It was educational (and even emotional) seeing the pictures and press clippings of the Netherlands' Queen at the time and how it appeared the people were handling the occupation. I regret that I only had the one day. And was coming from Einhoven -- via a taxi (I was amazed to be brought and taken back by taxi [Which in the USA, I might still be waiting for a taxi!).

I used to visit this museum as a kid back in the 70s! It's sure grown a lot since then. I don't think they had any running vehicles, just static ones parked randomly in the woods. I remember I loved the Sherman flail, and I think there was a bridgelayer. Glad to see it's all grown up.
@SlechterWolff

They restored the bridge layer, one of the more unique vehicles they have. The flail is also still there (as it was part of the battle at Overloon). By the way I remembered the static display in the woods as we went there quite a few times as a kid. Still visiting the museum on a regular basis.

@@RitaGamer A lot of military developments have had beneficial applications. A lot of our medical advancements have come from the military and the GPS everyone uses nowadays came from them, but the military does not build equipment to aid first responders, they use them to destroy enemy equipment and troops. I love the looks of the Panther tank but it was built with one thing in mind, to destroy enemy tanks.Don't get me wrong, I envy you.
