We had a Zero vacuum tank back in the day that went with our dumping station but when we added onto barn we put a pipeline system in and bought a bigger Sunset tank. 😊

As a former milk hauler I use to carry a car wash MIT to wash bulk tanks with plus I would go to Dollar General and get the Blue Scotch bright pads they won't scratch stainless steel.

Good Morning Taylor, thank you for always bringing us along for further herd introductions. LOL, so you already know my maiden name was TAYLOR…Now, I’m so excited to see you have a gal named after my mother: “MARY” 💜. I saw the comment by “Rich”, I too was going to suggest Mothers Mag Wheel Polish, to see if that will take the stain off your bulk tank. Just absolutely LOVE the fact that you care to complete regular weekly upkeep on the cleanliness of the equipment in your milk house. You and Brent keep up the great work 👍👍👍👍

Hey Taylor, If you really want to get Ambitious, Get yourself some Mothers Aluminum Polish and it will take the stains off the tank. You can pick it up at any Automotive Store. Read the direction on the amount to use. It works great on anything Aluminum or Chrome. There is your tip of the day LOL.. Enjoyed your video, Thanks for sharing.

There are always many smaller jobs on a farm such as maintenance, repair, and cleaning. I know those milk inspectors are very fussy about the clean areas in your milk room. If a farmer doesn’t meet their standards they can be dropped a grade. Does your milking system measure how much milk a cow gives at one of your milking? Taylor it’s always great to see all of the energy and time you put into these videos and that’s what makes them interesting and enjoyable. Keep smiling young lady and have a great day. Already looking forward to your next video. 😀
@tayfarms
@tayfarms Жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes an inspectors can be very picky! Our milk system doesn’t measure how much a certain cow gives at milking but that certainly would be convenient! I’m so glad to hear that you enjoy the videos, thank you!

What a great video. When I was on the farm we didn't have modern conveniences like a gutter cleaner. It was done manually, with shovels and pitchforks. Our milkhouse was a stand alone building that had a chiller built in. We always put the night milkings in there until morning. We would then put them on our pickup truck and take it down to the creamery ourselves. Usually about 10 cans per day. Have agreat day and God Bless.

Hmmn, could you explain the reasoning behind the large freestall barn associated with a stanchion barn. Is your local weather poor enough that cows need protection during off - winter seasons? Seems like alot of structure for non milking part of the herd. It would be a nice addition if you had switch cows but seems like all your milk cows fit in the main barn.
@tayfarms
@tayfarms Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! This farm used to milk over 100 cows with around twenty heifers so the freestall and the milking barn were both full capacity at that time. But our weather can be very bitter in the winter so most of our girls stay in the main barn unless the temp is above freezing then we will let them in and out. Thanks for commenting.

Speaking of scratching, how did the of Broom head repair work out? Are the girls still using it to the point of tearing it off the wall ? Lol. Great idea of recycling. Don’t know if your city or town nearby have a street sweeper. But know the used brushes on them would probably work great

Farmer Tyler may have provided an explanation as to how Josephine may have been bred at such an early age. Normally 7- 8 month old heifers are too young to breed and thus, he would allow his bull to be in the same pen with them. However, as he found out, that didn't always hold true and an unexpected birth resulted at the wrong time of the year.

Hiya Tay, Great video, thank you. Chipping off frozen poo from the chain with a hammer? Hmmm, rather you than me. I'm very sorry, but as you said, you are strange; not one drink of coffee in the whole film!!! I've just made my post-Sunday lunch mug full, and I'll enjoy that as I watch more videos.
