OBELISK - Dark Angels Champion Bulwark SOLO - Space Marine 2 New Operations Mission

The Obelisk Update is out, and with it, a beautiful new Operations map and a Dark Angels Champion skin. This run is actually two separate runs spliced together, a Lethal and a Ruthless. There’s an almost guaranteed Helbrute spawn in the first third of the mission, and I simply never had enough ammo to kill it with a Plasma Pistol on Lethal (I wanted to run the new Dark Angels skin for it), so I had to switch to Volkite and Ruthless while playing solo. This map is hard and a little bit annoying, it does a good job of highlighting all the things that make Thousand Sons frustrating to fight, as well as some less than savory mechanics with a Darkness/Maze section that I found cool visually, but not fun to play. Having your ability to fight partially stripped away to carry a torch is not enjoyable, it wasn’t fun in Vermintide and its not fun here. My build is 2 2 1 2 3 3 1 2. I will play around with the Block changes and the new Adrenaline Surge mechanic more soon, but Fencing is almost certainly still going to feel the best to me

maybe it's a bit flashy, but the execution should be stomping one end the disk to launch the herald into the air like a seesaw, then grabbing its leg mid-air just to slam it into the ground

Being able to call in heavy armour support, air strikes, and be able to play as a terminator would be fantastic.

My only complaint is that we didn't get a new exalted sorcerer boss/character or something. The Thousand Sons need a Hive Tyrant style boss to fight besides Imurah or the Hellbrute. Great gameplay, BTW!

Indy have you noticed that there are new pauldron emblems that are not a part of the dark angels pack? If you click on them you can access a new feature called "the Research Centre" ehich is how you unlock said emblems, however the research centre appears to be unavailable to actually use, so some people think it may have been added early by accident and is not complete yet. The emblems in question are the Thousand sons, Atlantian Spears, Imperious Reavers, and Sons of Guilliman chapter icons.

i saw a post about it on Reddit, do you have any ideas what specifically its hinting at/will be related to? Thousand Sons could be a counterpart in Eternal War to a future Librarian class, which would be very cool. And Atlantian Spears are Blood Angels successors, which I'm hoping will be the Assault champion pack

@milkandcookiesTW No I can't say I'm 100% certain as to what it it is hinting at for the future, but it does seem like the research centre is based around researching/unlocking different entries on enemy types and even allied characters, as there are different sections you can look through: one for Tyranids, chaos, and allied units (Captain Acheron is in that section). It seems too that there is some kind of new currency that it will used to access these different entries.

opposite, i ended up running Volkite for the mission i completed. Plasma is good but it runs out of ammo insanely quickly as solo, and I couldnt deal with the guaranteed Helbrute spawn with it

chaplain (Dark Apostle word bearer), librarian (thousand sons sorcerer), and Terminator definitely at the top of my list for most desired classes. Techmarine and Apothecary (emperors children) would be fine additions but wouldnt get me as hype

Cause how sick would it be if they made an entire Space Hulk DLC or offshoot game in this engine. That'd obviously be all terminator armor and dope as hell. I just can't get into this game any more, it's just to much of a sweat fest. The combat system doesn't work for me. I find myself more frustrated than having fun. Shame too because it is a good looking game, just wish they would go back to the close combat mechanics of the first game. Still love watching indy play though.
