Good video, reason no peck with carbide drill b/c thermal shock?
@EdgePrecision7 жыл бұрын
There's that and carbide doesn't like intermittent cuts, it likes more of a continues cut. With a peck out of the hole there is also the possibility of re cutting a shaving that didn't come completely out of the hole.

The camera mic is picking up vibration as an noise also. You can test this phenomena by putting your scull against the machine.

Is there no tooleye on the integrex machines ?
@EdgePrecision7 жыл бұрын
Yes there is a tool eye on the machine. It is easer and just as fast to touch tool off manually. The tool eye is up high on the machine it is difficult to see what you are doing and reach the jog wheel. My machine doesn't have a remote jog pendant so I just touch the tool manually. The machine also has a laser tool setter but something is not working with it and I don't want to spend the money to get it fixed.

I see, pretty useless unless you can see what you are doing up there. I can understand why you're not using it then. On the Quick Turn I have the tool eye is right in front of me so it is easy to use.

Do you remember the brand of your spot drill?
@EdgePrecision7 жыл бұрын
That drill is a single flute inserted 90 deg. spot drill made by Everede Tool Co. They call it Nine9 NC Spot Drill. This particular one is the 1/2" shank 90 Deg. .59 Max Dia. it takes their insert N9MT11T3CT, CR . I have had very good success with this tool. I also use a larger size on the Horizontal mill. When spotting don't run to high a feed. I typically feed about .0005 per rev. in stainless steel. This seems like its slow but you can turn a high speed say 3000 rpm. I did a job on the horizontal mill that had many .750 drilled holes (About 30 in each part) in 316 SST. I started with a standard carbide spot drill didn't get thru one part. I switched to this tool ( the larger one .89 dia. )and did all the parts and didn't even index the insert. Needless to say I really like this tool for spotting and chamfering. They also make it in different angles.

Thank you, I think I will order one. I have a lot of holes to make in stainless steel and the carbide spot drill didn't work fine as you say. Keep going, I really enjoy your video. Greeting from Switzerland
