The 1000 pounds of fleece yarn will need it's own name. Maybe 'Winter Odyssey?'. Thanks again for a dandy MC!

Well done Todd! As partner to a former safety engineer, possibly use eye protection and perhaps a helmet - protect the melon. Thanks for the video.

The 572 remaining pounds is GORGEOUS in that green! (ok. assume its not all green but something to consider) 💚💚💚 I wasn't going to make time to knit the cowl but after seeing yours (and I have JFM yarn) I decided to try to get it done. I did knit the Halibut cowl in Late October without the Halibuts. ha ha! It was actually a swatch for the sweater (Caitlin Hunter) which might have halibuts. LOVE your inspiring ways - do believe you two have boundless energy when I imagine the pace you keep I am in awe. (And pregnant Amanda)! I was glad you mentioned about knitting more - this is good for my 2 cents worth. Thank you for everything and all the inspiration! Yes, Todd should wear eye & melon protection. Wool you...of course you wool!🐑

oh boy those KAL WIPS are gorgeous, I have too many WIPS but I still want to cast the Nourishment cowl on! I loved listening to the Reading List, Midnight Library and Everyone in my family has killed someone. God bless Todd, that fleece looks amazing.

Congratulations on the 1000 pounds of wool adventure! It was epic and the finished product looks beautiful. And Todd was really brave to open the wool bale.

Love the green fuzzy sweater. Good audible is "Legends and Lattes". The author narrated it and he does a wonderful job with the character voices. Summary of the story is an Orca who is a mercenary leaves her old life and opens up a coffee shop in a place were no one knows what coffee is. It is a feel good story.

You are truly the best! You and your team and your family members, of course...I was a bit worried about Todd, but glad to see the scoured, lovely fleece.... looking forward to the zoom tomorrow, if all goes to plan. I am having a snow day from school today and what could be better than watching your Millcast while starting the nourishment cowl? Maybe seeing Peg at Wayland on Sunday?

I have a rec for Amanda on creativity & parenthood - Julie Phillips' book The Baby on the Fire Escape gives the alternative take/reality to the drop-everything-and-just-create-mentality. I'm about halfway through; I used to read it while my daughter was at fencing lessons, but she switched to basketball and the basketball court unfortunately does not have the comfy reading chairs that fencing gym had. This is a bummer for both reading and knitting on the sideline, but my kid's dribbling skills are really impressive now.

The scoured fleece looks gorgeous...so glad Todd safely unpacked it....hoping for some sport weight Making Tracks sometime in the future. Also, did I just optimistically imagine that you were going to write and sell the pattern for your amazing hat, Peggy? I really want to knit one! No pressure; I know you're stirring a lot of pots. Have fun on your Babymoon, Amanda.

O.M.Gee!!!! That wire sounded like a gun going off! Better buy that man some safety glasses...or a suit of armor maybe. The fleece is "to dye for"! Personally, I wouldn't let it anywhere near a dye pot.

Looking forward to the Zoom knit-along Wed PM (it's on my calendar!). I can't remember what breed you said the 1000 pounds was-- that it lost almost half its weight suggests a high-lanolin content, but I'm speaking from doing hand-scouring experience. Maybe the loss is higher for industrial-strength scouring? Can't wait to see what you come up with. I do hope you'll leave some skeins undyed. I'd like to see what you end up with. And did I hear a rumor you're aiming for sport weight yarns with your new spinner?
@junctionfibermill Жыл бұрын
The wool is primarily Blue-Faced Leicester with some Texel crosses and Scotch Mules. We are working on some new weights once we figure out the quirks of the new spinner...

Peggy, I wanted to agree with you about “Fourth Wing” I am close to your age probably older, but I really loved both “ Fourth Wing and Iron Flame” I could do without the gratuitous sex, but despite that they were great. I love the dragons and they’re so snarky. They really add a comedic element to the books. Aa similar series is “ Blood and Steel” by Helen Scheuerer, again too much sex, but a great adventure. That yarn was amazing. It is great to see the process.

What size is the mill sample of the cowl?
@junctionfibermill Жыл бұрын
It is one size but you can modify the height of the neck and add length if you wish - but be sure to check your yarn quantity since it uses up a full Making Tracks as written!
