"O Brother, Where Art Though" - Another off-the-wall Cohen brothers movie with Holly Hunter and John Goodman. On a separate note, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" is one of John Hughe's oft-referenced classics and a must see.

"What happened to Nicholas Cage" is a question we have all been asking for at least the last 20 years.

He hasn't gone anywhere. He just needs cash to finance his castles and dinosaur bones, so he's a little less picky. Check out Mandy and Color Out of Space for recent Cage in full Cage mode. For the record, this is my favorite movie (right now, at least). I love the weird lyricism of his dialogue and delivery. I think the beginning montage, Huggies chase scene, and final montage are perfect movie set pieces. Also, there are so many lines from this movie that are etched into my brain. Particularly, the "They were jammies; they had Yodas n' shit on 'em!" line is one that I bring up whenever it is organically possible to do so (which is very rare). Also, "Self-contained and fairly explanatory" is one that I use frequently as a teacher, in that tone of voice.

I was born and raised (and still live) in Arizona. This movie was one of the first movies I remember watching. there was a point in my life that I thought it must of been a fever dream. Like I remember a movie, about men crawling up out of the mud, a giant crib with 5 toddlers, robber stealing diapers, and a crazy dude on a motorcycle with grenades. Imagine my shock when one day as a teen I sat down and watched this and boom, there were all the scenes from what I thought was a fever dream. Hi scraping his knuckles on the ceiling of his trailer kills me every time i see it. I laugh like it's the first time every time.

"Well no, unless round is funny." Your biggest laugh reaction and legitimately the best joke in the movie, hell most movies. Yeah, this reaction channel can stay. I love Raising Arizona like I love most Coen Brothers movies, but yeah, this one is a little special. I'd go for Fargo after this for a darker flavour, or O' Brother Where Art Thou if you fancy another southern flavoured comedy adventure. If you're not used to older, odder flicks one thing to keep in mind is magical realism, which is a thing I love. Weird biker dude is a case of this. That element in a movie that is strange and kinda dream-like in a film which although odd is almost faintly slightly kinda plausible. Just roll with it. You usually get it in the best films. "She is really pretty, I don't know who that is, but she is really pretty." Yes, she is indeed Holly Hunter. Bestest actress and someone I have always had a massive crush. Nicholas Cage - he's still great now and again! He's really good in Werner Herzog's 'Bad Lieutenant' from 2009, but no one went to see that brilliant odd movie. Anyway, I've seen two of your reactions now. I like. Good work. I say you should follow your instincts... especially as *cough sorry* you ain't missing much delaying on the Star Wars prequels. Go hunt out the odd, strange goodness! Also, isn't it odd that you've down say only a dozen reactions and yet two movies you've seen involve bunny rabbits being blown up by hand grenades. Huh.

@@Nope2022HugeTheWarningFan I just don't know what to say to that, except that most of the Coen brothers film take a second watch for me to fully get it. The Big Lebowski was like that for me. I didn't get it the first time, or maybe I was hoping for something on the scale of Raising Arizona. But the second time I watched it, I fell in love with it. Raising Arizona is still better and O Brother took a second viewing and for me to connect the Odyssey with it. But, honestly hating those and Fargo? I gotta say that you obviously missed some film and creative writing classes in college, because those things are works of art on the level of Shakespeare. Barton Fink I can live without, but that's a different matter.

Your review of this was so good, I just watched it again. 1. Did you notice just how long the intro to this movie was? 2. The intro covered more than two years. The actual movie itself covered only two days in time. The epilog was a whole generation long. 3. Five of the twelve babies used to play the Arizona Quints, were girls. They all would be about 35 years old now. 4. I know you hate opening credits, but did you listen/watch the closing credits all the way through. Many of the older movies have "easter eggs" that are only in the closing credits and sometimes you really have to look for them. You would find the simple banjo melody merge into one of the classical masterpieces, but not if you stop too soon. There a a lot of classic closing credits gems. Ferris Bueller's Day off has the best one, but it is AFTER the closing credits end. People who left the movie theatre too soon missed it and heard about it later. There are countless others.

Ashleigh, I am going to tell you, if you want to keep the trilogy theme going, you should watch these other two great movies by the Coen Brothers, same writers and directors of Raising Arizona. Now there are no sequels among their movies, so these suggestions are not related in storyline at all, so not a true trilogy. But they are all just as unique and entertaining as Raising Arizona, if not more so on some of them. You should follow Raising Arizona up with The Big Lebowski, and then O Brother, Where Art Though?, both have John Goodman, as he has been in a lot of their movies, whether a lead or a small part. Trust me on this. You will love them and it sort of keeps the trilogy (or at least "Trio") theme going. ..and The Big Lebowski is one of the greatest movies of all time, voted and rated by many, many, many, many people. Also quite possibly John Goodman's greatest role ever and also the greatest role ever by Jeff Bridges.

Big L came out before I "got" the Coen Bros. I knew their films were excellent, but hadn't got the bug yet. All I knew about Big L was it dealt with bowling, so I passed on it in the theater. Then one day I saw the DVD and thought, "Well, it's the Coen Bros. How bad can it be?" I bought it. That was the film that made me an CB addict.

Man, this used to be one of my FAVORITE movies. Haven't seen it in years, though. Practically have it memorized. "Unless round is funny." Classic! You could do an early Coen Brothers (they wrote, produced and directed this) marathon. I loved all of their early films. They're all very different and all really great: Blood Simple (1984), Raising Arizona (1987), Miller's Crossing (1990), Barton Fink (1991), The Hudsucker Proxy (1994), Fargo (1996), The Big Lebowski (1998) and O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000). They're still going strong, by the way. More recently they've done movies like No Country For Old Men and a re-make of True Grit.

And now that I've watched it, the answer to your question about the matching tattoos... Think about it. H.I.'s parents are supposedly dead, the lone biker of the Apocalypse refers to being sold as a child. H.I. doesn't apologize for pulling the grenade pin because he killed a random attacker. He apologizes because he suddenly realizes they're long lost brothers. The ink symbolizes that. On another note, I can't believe we didn't see a reaction to the "panty on your head," line. Otherwise, good job. Now, if I may, I recommend The Jerk starring Steve Martin. Keep up the good work.

With this covid-666 happening and all, everyone looks like a bank robber, so I mentioned to a co-worker, "How are we gonna know if someone is gonna rob the place when everyone is wearing a mask...?" The meaning of the tattoos: It's of the cartoon character Woody Woodpecker. The biker gang the Peckerwoods adopted it as their symbol. H.I. probably joined the gang while in prison. Ashleigh, I would like to get in line early for a Halloween suggestion: Tod Browning's "Freaks", a poignant 1932 B&W film featuring actual circus side-show human oddities such as The Living Torso, The Bearded Lady, Siamese Twins, etc. I doubt if anyone here has seen it much less heard of it. "Raising Arizona" was a huge hit, when it came out. It made big stars out of Holly Hunter and Nicolas Cage. Nick's been able to coast on the momentum he got from "Raising Arizona ever since, and I think, that's why, he's a bit inconsistent in his subsequent performances.
