You can see more Rodney in "Back To School", another great one. Rodney's lines in Caddyshack were all improvised. He had never worked with professional actors before (only standup and talk shows) and he thought he was bombing because none of the cast were laughing. Hal Needham basically asked everyone he knew if they wanted to come for a party and they filmed a movie around it.

1. This movie was written by Doug Kenney, who co-wrote Animal House and played Stork in same. The movie is kind of a nose-thumbing to the kind of people he grew up with. For more insight, watch "A Futile and Stupid Gesture". 2. Cindy Morgan, who plays Lacey, has self-professed to being "blind as a bat" without her glasses, even back this far. That awesome dive? She had to do it nearly completely blind, due to her eyesight. 3. Cornelius "Chevy" Chase actually comes from a wealthy family. He was the drummer for Steely Dan before they became famous. 4. The actress who played Maggie disappeared from acting after Caddyshack, and has kept a very low profile since then. 5. The scene between Ty and Carl was ad-libbed.
