There are plenty of millennials that have quietly knuckled down and gotten to work trying to repair the damage caused by policies and decisions made by the previous generations. Not easy either given their lack of stewardship, awful parenting decisions and advice. But here we are, being blamed for the failings of others.
@sticks56144 жыл бұрын
@ It's a fair comment I suppose but as I ended up suffering the abuse from a woman with a Narcissistic personality disorder along with my son we might, just might mind you be in a better position to make that call on our position. Now, I'm sure there are some really conscientious millennial's who've made something positive with their lives just as some people in my age group are what we used to call "wasters", nobodies perfect and WE all make mistakes and I'm sure I did with my daughter but that's with the benefit of hind-sight and as we all know that's 20-20 vision, but knuckling down and getting to work "trying to repair the damage caused by policies and decisions made by the previous generations" and saying it isn't easy either "given their lack of stewardship, awful parenting decisions and advice" is what the Millennial journalist Alexis Bloomer is saying. If we made mistakes we're sorry but don't whine about it, try and fix it!

@@Alex.1739 From my (as limited as it may be) 38 years on earth I can see that we're living in the "easy times" right now. Thats why when you look around you see fat, mean, aggressive women and scrawny, scared, confused young men. Example: During WW2 you had young men lying about their age to get into the service to fight the Germans. Now, you can't get a 30 year old man out of his single mothers basement to get a job and put the weed down, let alone be a leader of men and stand for something greater than himself. Especially when there is opposition telling that young man that he should be ashamed of the testosterone in his body. Very confusing times right now for a young man in the US. BUT, the universe always balances itself out.

@Alex.17394 жыл бұрын
I'm 41 by the way. And left home at 18, worked very hard in a demanding but well paid job, saved, bought a house etc but I look at my Dads generation, 30k final salary pension.Bought his house for 35k, 35 year ago. Now worth 500k. Financially sorted for retirement. My final salary pension is stopped, they can't afford them anymore, I need to move and can't sell my house, due to brexit (which boomers voted for). Kids need to save 40k deposit in the Uk to get a house and often leave uni with 40k debt to go into a zero hour contract, part-time job on 8-10 pound per hour. These are facts, not opinion. Part of the generational problem is that in the past the leading generation taught the following generation and in turn were taught by the following generation. Gen X is so small in comparison that the buffer between Baby Boomers and Millennials barely exist. It might be too great a distance to seperate. Gen X also learned (mostly due to the media and world events in their day) not to care as much about the opinions of others unless those opinions infringe on them directly. The apathy in others opinions doesnt exist in either Millennials or Baby Boomers. For example, a Baby Boomer might find offence in seeing a trans person walking around, a Millennial would be offended by the offence, Gen X wouldnt give a crap until someone started trying to convince them it was normal or started shoving pronouns at them. Thats when Gen X would push back and not gently. The gap is partly causing the problem. Too much has changed in too little time for the smaller generation to be able to be a buffer. If Millennials would learn from Baby Boomers and Baby Boomers would learn from Millennials things would be better. Would also be helpful if Gen X would quit being so apathetic to the issues today. The problem comes from all generations, not just one.

David N In today's so called academia, "professors" teach that American has never been great and that we and Western Christian-Judeo values are to blame for every ill in world history. Michelle Obama's "First time in my adult like I am really proud of my country" remark is prime example of that prevailing mindset, even though she graduated from Princeton and Harvard law school and won a high paying Chicago job. Her attitude smacks of in gratitude which is the mantra passed down in higher education today, and through the political Leftist camp; an attitude such as this young lady is taking about.

Dump Lump (Proper Name)Liberal Boomers inherited the debt that was given to them by their elders. But what you're not getting.. is the FACT that you millennials are the biggest namby pamby, afraid of bruising your peel, pansies I've ever known. You guys are afraid of your own shadow. You won't get out of your parent's basement, you're all on welfare, none are willing to do their share and they expect when they do any effort what so ever, you want executive pay for entry level work and complain if you don't get it. You want free phones (Obama proved that) free food, free housing, free education which is amassing the greatest debt since America's inception. In the last 8 years you millennials have spent $9 Trillion dollars which is more than the money spent to get America created since the last 200 years. So don't shuck n jive me with your liberal BS. You're the only one spouting horse shit on this thread.

Andreas, You're so correct. I've been married 29 years to the same woman. Being together that long.. takes a lot of give and take. Both have to be willing to fight for each other to the death if necessary. I have a millennial son who lives with me. I just bought him his 9th car. Since he was our first, I've purchased him over 20 guitars, 3 sets of drums, 4 motorcycles, 2 apartments and untold amounts of cash while he wasted his time in school being propagandized by the leftist educators..(If that's what you want to call them.) I've come to a conclusion.. My two daughters.. are doing great..1 Doctor in training and another LPN. My son.. is still struggling. I've done 100X more for him and through all his broken promises, and all the hope n drudgery, pain and suffering... we still love him... yet he won't spend 10 minutes doing what he says he'll do keeping his word. Being a parent to a millennial is so difficult. Unbrainwashing them is a chore but I keep seeing signs of hope that one day.. he'll stop cussing at us, stop being disrespectful and start being a kind, giving young man who wants to leave his mark in the world rather than having the mark left on him... Millennials like you... give me hope for your future. Cheers!

So true my experienced friend. If there is something i want the future dads/moms to teach their children, is that it takes hard work from both individuals to make a relationship work. And, sometimes shit gets rough, but you have to fight for it. Not be lazy and give in. Me and my single friends are talking about this alot. That dating and finding a girl nowadays is very hard since they have such high demands.(Can be true with guys as well of course,)They are looking for what they can get, not what they can give. They are comparing themselves with their friends boyfriends and people they don't even know. "My friends BF bought her a trip to the bahamas" , Ok i guess i have to buy my Gf a trip to the bahamas now....or else she will lose interest....maybe start to think that the grass is greener on the other side. I really hope your son will come around.

I have two beautiful grandchildren "Winter and Unitus" from him so in reality.. I can't really complain since I've received their more than I've ever given monetarily to Kyle.... My wife was one of my students. I was a teacher in college (Before it was taken over by liberals) teaching Micro Biology and Algebra. She was from Barcelona. I took the summer off and rode my motorcycle up to Juno off the Alcan Highway and asked her to go along. We were cliff diving at Trails Inn when she was about to jump and said.. "I've got something to tell you..." Then she jumped yelling "I'm pregnant!".. I was yelling back.. "What the hell are you jumping for?" That was the summer of 1987. We've been together every since. Life's been a journey. I've learned that if I want my wife to be happy.. I have to be spontaneous Together we've dove with the sharks, journeyed to uninhabited islands and leaped from airplanes. (I did.. she chickened out.. LOL) I was homeless from the age 11 till I was 18. I lived in a Rock Island Box car until I reached adulthood. As a child I suffered extreme abuse and woke many of holidays alone in the cold. I swore that I would NEVER let my children suffer the pains I suffered. I swore to take care of them.. never harm them and to protect them. Now that I'm 53... I realize that "Pain and Suffering" are part of life and needed because without it.. we can't learn and grow. Kyle will come around one day but I hope it's not too late. (The book "Estoppels" is a biography of my life on Amazon.)

It's almost like a lack of discipline or something... Who gave you the discipline in your house, your mother or your father?
