"Falling down" is a must-watch movie with Michael Douglass.

Absolutely! Saw “Falling Down” multiple times in the cinema in 1993, it’s a really intense movie. Michael Douglas is fantastic in it. This song was one of the few positives from this album I remember thinking when it came out.

This one I thought was pretty good. The low again was the vocals. This song is based on the 1993 movie "Falling Down" starring Michael Douglas and Robert Duvall , about a middle aged white collar worker who snaps under the frustration and absurdity of the big city life.

As a maiden fan I really enjoyed this album since 1995. Blaze's voice is fit to this kind of environment and Steve was smart to change the whole instrument or melodies to make it fit to Blaze voice
@sumonjamal16532 жыл бұрын
Blaze Bayley wrote the lyrics... Janick Gers the music. One of the best tunes on the record, and Bruce Dickinson did perform it live... Actually, the song was based on the Michael Douglas movie 'Falling down' - it was about a scientist who was fired from the US Dept. of Defense after the cold war... As a result, jobless... separated from his wife... and on his daughter's birthday, she won't allow him to see her. So one day, he's stuck L.A. traffic on a hot day and his A/C quits working... so he just loses it... walks out of his car and begins his mayhem on L.A. ...especially after he finds a cache of illegal weapons.

As I said before your first reaction, free yourself from the tastes of other people and the silly comparisons and enjoy the album. You entered this album with a HUGE amount of prejudice based on other people's comments, which is not fair neither for you nor for the album's credit. The album contains some really good songs if you can free your mind and see.

I enjoy some of the Blaze era, and like him on vocals, but I got into Maiden in 83, so went into The X Factor with it having to stand up against all those albums by Dickinson. Would love to hear opinions of anyone who's first Maiden album was X Factor or Virtual XI, going in without any previous baggage.
@gerojasfalta74892 жыл бұрын
My first Maiden album was The X-factor and the first song I heard was Fortunes of war and that was it, made me a lifelong Maiden fan at the age of 9. I posted to some earlier reaction that I think I appreciate the Blaze era more because of that. Blaze for me was the first "voice of Maiden" I knew and had that been Bruce, I may have disliked the Blaze era just as practically "everybody" else. Fortunately that was not the case and I can enjoy all the eras 🙂 Words are not enough to express how important this album is for me, it has changed me as a person.

I heard that some Iron Maiden fans were quite disappointed when this album was released. According to some claims; Iron Maiden had changed its sound so radically that it seemed to resemble such an alternative rock band. This Iron Maiden album was released in 1995 whereas Alternative Rock was dominating the rock'n' roll atmosphere, so it's understandable that the band needed to catch some strings musically, for it could be favorably accepted.

Don't let others push you into not liking the Album!Stay Objektive! I am a Maiden freak since the 80's,and I say this Album and Blaze got far too much hate! With Bruce leaving the band,Maiden was forced to start a new chapter in their career.Harris wrote this album and choosed Blaze to sing on it for a reason!! And I think it worked for X-Factor! The problem with Blaze for me started,as I saw Maiden live on the X-Factor tour.Besides the fact that he really sounded not good, I quickly regonized that older Songs just don't work with Blaze's voice! I like Blaze,and I like X-Factor more than the 'Prayer' or the 'Fear' album!But Futureal already sounded like a weak,self stolen,uninspired album.
