I love this! I've been selling on Mercari since 2019! It's currently my only platform, even though I was on eBay for years. I actually originally found your channel because I was looking for Mercari videos! I wanted to mention that I have made 2 sales using Mercari local, so I always show that option. I wouldn't have made either of those sales to those two buyers had I not had it turned on. They were both same day delivery and the buyers were super happy! I've seen comments on another video saying stock photos aren't allowed on Mercari but I've seen some recently. Of course, when I first started I had an item deleted because it said supplement on it and those aren't allowed, either. I looked and a few people had the exact same thing. I guess someone reported me to cut down competition. But I had forgotten that it said supplement on the label as I had the same fragrance that didn't say that on the label.

Using the Pirate Ship free ship model on Mercari have you seen a reduction in sales numbers year over year since they took down the free ship icon on the listings recently ? Now our listings look like a higher priced items unless buyers actually click into the listing.

Because Mercari shipping rates are ridiculously higher than pirate ship. Since I do free shipping I charge more for the product and instead of paying $12 to ship something I’ll pay like $6 on pirate ship

@@MillennialProfit I like the idea of Pirate Ship, but having never done free shipping before.... how you do you estimate shipping costs, if they vary across the United States by zip code, and elsewhere? That has always been the problem for me. For instance what if you're selling a $14 item "Free shipping", and someone from Australia ends up bidding on it... and it costs you $40 to ship it, a deals a deal? You never know how much its going to cost, because you don't know the location of whose going to buy it in advance. Or is the idea just to move so much merchandise that its "win some, lose some". I've never sold enough to be able to spread the risk like that. :/

I am hoarding a lot of clothes. I really want to sort my clothes out and get rid of stuff I no longer would wear but is still in good condition, also clothes that are too similar in style. The only thing I worry about is shipping out items. I live in Hawaii so it's kind of hard and I am not sure if I can keep my price competitive or if it's even worth it if I have to absord shipping cost. I am thinking of setting up an online store first and try to see if I can sell it on my own versus going to a vintage store to try and sell it to them.

If your clothes are under 1 pound, do not worry about shipping because you can send them USPS Ground advantage for $4-6. Over 1 pound items are going to be what kills you from Hawaii so stick with items that are under 1 pound in the packaging.

Yes but you also don’t need a thermal printer, just use a normal printer and tape it on the package

What should I do Mercari doesn’t know how to bundle automatically. It’s simple-an offer is accepted, mercari does the rest- but it screws up the shipping. A person bought 3 items each weighing 4 ounces. Mercari put shipping at 8 ounces. With packing it’s about 10 ounces.

one downsize about Mercari is you cannot send pictures through chat so if the plant(or other perishable) has minor damage, for example, but customer lied that plant is dead on arrival and want a refund but because there is no proof of picture in that case, how do you deal with it?

Take the L. It happens but not that often. Little things like that happen on any platform, you’re not going to be able to fight everything. Write it off and onto the next sale.

Mercari will definitely not give you the sales of eBay but it’s a good side platform to crosslist to. I only do buy it how’s on eBay so I can have immediate payment on. As long as you’re buying high sell through items on eBay and listing at trending prices it’s better than ever. EBays not worse, it’s just changed and you have to evolve with it.

Venmo isn’t an option on any of the platforms I use (eBay, Amazon, Mercari). However if you’re looking for a payment app that can’t be charged back for local deals then cashapp and zelle will be what you want to use. With PayPal and Venmo the buyers can chargeback afterwards.

If it says shipped the item then ship the item. Once the buyer receives, they will have three days to rate you and then the funds get released. If they don’t rate you within three days, Mercari will auto rate you and the funds will go to your balance.
