Here in October 2024, I just turned 60 years old. I'm a black woman who not only LOOOVED Dokken but back in the 1980's, I had friends who knew the band personally. Shortly, after my mother passed away, one of these friends made arrangements for me to meet them. I must tell you, Don, George, Mick and Jeff were some of the kindest, nicest gentlemen that I had ever met and they left a powerful, lifelong impact on me. When they broke up, the heartache was just as devastating as when my mom passed but I never forgot about them and I continue to pray for them and wish them well, especially with Don's terrible health problems. The HUNTER was my all time favorite song and I admit that it's bittersweet to listen to. 😢 They were such an underrated and under appreciated band .but they rocked my world, in more ways than one and I will forever be grateful. 🤗❤️💕.

Dokken was one of the very best of the 80s hard rock bands, and though generally considered a hair band they really were a classic hard rock band with an updated sound and look for the 80s audience. Don Dokken is underrated as a singer, songwriter and frontman, saw them twice and they were better than bands higher on the bill. Try anything off Tooth and Nail, every cut is a banger and they know great hooks. Great band, Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶

one of the most underrated bands of the 80's....they were unfairly stereotyped as hair metal. I'm 53 and i still love dokken🤟🤟🤟

The 80s were the best in music they actually did a song back for the attack but they did not put it on the album why I don't know I recently stumbled across it 10 years ago amazing killer guitar solo in it I found the song on a Japanese import CD I am 53 years old and being a kid in the early eighties hearing this music was so great it was energetic it was fun then the 90s all the depression setback in the downer music What a Sad time that was

I always loved popping this into my cassette deck to start off a ride. This was the lead off song on the album, and I just loved the vibe. Jeff Pilson, bassist and dude in the box, was running from the P.M.R.C. ( Parents' Music Resource Center). They were headed up by Tipper Gore, and included many bored housewives of Senators. They were all about censorship, especially of "long haired metal freaks", and I despised them. They changed their tune after Dee Snider, Frank Zappa, and John Denver showed up to blast Congress for overstepping their bounds. The P.M.R.C. then claimed that they only wanted warning stickers on albums so that parents knew what their kids were listening to. Yeah, the main kid Tipper was worried about, her son, sadly committed suicide many years later. So, moms trying to legislate their own children who they didn't want to accept that they needed professional psychological support. I never trusted the whole thing, still don't, but too many bands stayed away from testifying, because they felt the warning stickers would boost sales. And it did. So, they made more money, but lost a lot of respect from their fans when the truth came out. Grunge wasn't the only thing that killed metal . Anyways, Dokken is definitely worth a deep dive into. They earned a lot of respect from other bands on the scene for their playing. George Lynch's solo stuff, and his band Lynch Mob have some great stuff, too. 🤘💖

@@theYuGiOhseasonzeroguy You're right! I tend to forget that I would sit in my brother's room, and tailor make cassettes from both my, and his, albums from his brand new component system. Maybe I just fast forwarded past "Unchain the Night", since my car stereo could stop at the next song! That was a new feature I treasured, because it put less stress on the tape, and I didn't have to spend so much time leaning forward, searching, with eyes on the road, I have great memories of listening to this album while out and about! 🤘💖

The video is broken up to follow drummer Mick Brown "bar hoppin", then bassist Jeff Pilson being harrassed by people with torches (PMRC stamped on crate was reference to Tipper Gore's organization to label albums with explicit lyrics). Then in the red car guitarist George Lynch was highlighted. And lastly singer Don Dokken was shown on his bike.

I grew up in this Era. Look at the box that has the letters PMRC. A group that banned questionable music. The vid is hinting that they are all hunters. Maybe, just a theory, that Jeff Pilson (bassist) might be a werewolf getting chased by the guys with torches. The other band members go out and seek what they can find. Bars, fast cars or bikes. It was the eighties. What can I say? Longing, hope.

This song was Ok, by no means their best. A far more phenomenal Dokken tune is Lightnin' Strikes Again from this same album: faster, better riffs, solid metal vocals, and killer soloing: you won't be disappointed.
