Why not fence off a corner of the pond for the smaller fish to have as a secure spot to breed, we did that on our farm pond and now we have a sustained population of bluegill every year

That Pond would benefit from a fountain recirculating pump. It would clean and put O2 in the water. I “believe” that would help Fatty the Fat Bass grow exponentially and the bait fish would survive longer

I would say the water needs more dissolved oxygen and try to clear out leaf litter in the fall. Hope the pond stays more lively this time!

Bro I wish I could afford to stock my pond better! But what I have is some spawning areas that shelter the bait fish from the bass long enough for them to spawn. The cheap way is to wire together a stack of about 4 wooden pallets and weigh them down so they don’t float everywhere. Fathead minnows do amazing that way because they spawn on wooden structures. The bluegill like to hide in them too. The bass are always hanging out around them waiting like sharks for seals 😂

Hell yeah MFr!We’re trying to restock our pond here in middle Tennessee due to the fact we had a big fish kill 3yrs ago.It wasn’t nothing to catch 3-5lbs on every other cast.It was sickening when we seen the disaster aftermath of the kill.UGH!Sucked bro!Maybe by the time my 3 grand babies are old enough in few years I’ll have the pond back in shape.Good luck up north!👍🏼👍🏼

Stress is so hard in hot weather o2 level is low anything to help that might save a fish die off .youtube pond management . Catfish farmers have to time in the dog days .If your lucky to have cold spring fed ponds it probably be OK. Keep a close eye on yours adding fish could pull o2 out of you ponds

If you really want to build a successful pond, check out the BamaBass channel and watch the videos on his 5 acre pond build. He built it with the help of biologists to do exactly what you want to do. He stocked these Tiger bass strain of Largemouth bass that grow about 2lbs be year. Watching his bass grow has been amazing!

Tiger bass are a hybrid they do not grow as big as a Florida strain bass plus they degenarate they are a waste of money if you want to grow trophy bass
