Fished professionally when I was in my early 30's, did great! Loved it! Had a bad experience with a fellow club member, just threw me for a loop, literally quit fishing! Kept most of my tackle! I ALWAYS fish deeper first early on. The bass already on the beds early have seen pressure from lures AND predators, and are widely spread apart, it equals slower fishing. The deeper females are still feeding and just as heavy or heavier, while the males are scattered. As the spawn develops fish that haven't seen a lure yet are quicker to bite. (Especially the males.) Doesn't matter which sex you catch first; I think it's the one that feels most vulnerable, NOT hungry, at any given moment will bite first, usually the males because they're further from the bed. Staying strictly on the beds are for the end of the spawn.

When they are starting to bed and the big females are cruising, blind cast with big baits in the transitionary points between the flats and channels. They go and feed between cruises. They go out deep to feed but come back through those points like clockwork so I guess this is more the way I do it since I don't have Live Scope.
