OMG i had the exact same sound last year on my Merc The feeling is gut wrenching I had it on video I called it the day the mercury died. I upgraded to the 175 Yamaha sho And love it . Good luck Ben your videos inspire me: ✌️

My opti left me for the first time Friday. I got a constant 6 second alarm about 30 seconds after I started my motor but everything seemed ok until I got about 10 miles from the landing and it shut down on me. I had that gut feeling it was going to happen and it did. It’s the oil reservoir sensor I think. Of course all the places are called Friday doesn’t have it.

I mean, outside of hitting things with the lower unit, it’s hard to be too rough on the motors after the break in period. I don’t think any of the brands have great QC these days.

Fish the weed line and then the first drop off and then the space in between the docks. Then move to the 2nd drop and the Space in-between the weed line and the drop next. 3rd fish prominent cover and ditches if they aren't in staging areas. Then Fish docks last. If that doesn't work fish depth. Only fish docks you know have big fish on them 1st before all this if you know they wont be there later. Then fish staging areas. Work Shoreline based on wind and temp; but only if you prefish because the fish might be in a different part of the stage. So be prepared to flip and rig last to pull fish out of hard cover or top cover. As a last resort use search baits such as jerk baits or spinnerbaits variants because fish might be in transition to a different area(s) due to pressure. Topwater.

Both lower unit oil and engine oil were replaced prior to running the new lower.

Sounds like when the foot got changed the water pickup tube was not hooked up but you could see if that motor was peeing or not just my thoughts

@@KJRob30 true mate. Mine has 500 + hrs. Service it myself. Replaced the water pump impeller and thermostat 3 times, lower unit seals ( very important ) to prevent saltwater in the gearbox. 2 stroke but great motor compared to other brands i have owned.
