Notice how Toyota does not fool around with dumb marketing and outrageous claims? These things sell themselves based on their own merits and resale values.

That and they were the first manufacturer to submit the Tundra for the J2807 towing standard with no redesign. The big 3 waited for a full refresh before doing so. Gas sucks but having a truck that works matters more. All my Lexus's so far have been bulletproof. Change fluids, be sympathetic when they're cold and they just last.

@greengrowlocks566
@greengrowlocks566 2 жыл бұрын
I mean what business does a dealership have buying a million mile vehicle for a teardown anyway? All the million mile vehicles videos bought or filmed at a dealership (Volvo,Tundra) use the persons car as a publicity stunt instead of using for a informational teardown. If anyone was interested in a vehicle for that then I would imagine Toyota itself would have bought it, not a dealership.

@@greengrowlocks566 Toyota did buy it, the dealership was already using it for publicity, which is how Mike Sweers and the others at Toyota corporate got wind of the situation and ultimately bought it back to research it.

Our tacoma is a 2001, v6, we have 313,052 miles on it and we hope to get to 1,000,000. In 2018 we replaced the cylinder heads with help from "timmy the toolman" and "worse than chiggers" on youtube. It's more than a vehicle to us, it has been part of our lives in so many ways, helping us move, taking us on adventures or to the emergency room.. I like to think of Mr. T as a friend who always lends you money or a helping hand even when you can't always pay him back or help him. If we make it to 1,000,000 miles we would love to send him to be restored I would never want a new truck!

So I have a toyota tundra and once I hit the million mile mark, will the engineer want to take mine in as well to check it out. I also work in the oil industry but I'm hauling gooseneck and 5th wheel majority of the time and run the dog crap out of it. But I also keep up with the maintenance. If a light is out. I take it in to get it fix. There is a sayin. if you take care of your vehicle, vehicle will take care of you. That is fact jack

Don’t let them fool ya. They didn’t swap it to research how to make their vehicles last longer. They did it to see how they can save money by determining what parts can be less durable. Ford did the same thing back in the olden days with their early vehicles. Unfortunately, even Toyota has adopted the disposable car philosophy. As I understand it, their goal is 7 years until it needs a major repair. That’s unacceptable.
