One of the reasons I want to take a little Breaking Bad break is that while a lot of you love the series (me too) I acknowledge that others haven't even seen Breaking Bad. Before I finish up the series, I would like to take a break for a bit to do some other stuff, like a new Lumpy Mario Land part. So yea, Part 17 soon, then a small hiatus. So, there actually *was* a third Mario brother, albeit in none of the games. He exists entirely in the expanded media, specifically in the Mario Brothers board game from the 80s. His colorscheme was Blue to Mario and Luigi's red and green. This boardgame was also the first introduction of Wario, though much like the third Mario brother he was not yet named.

sans being tall was actually a basic reveal at the midpoint of the game, his "short" sprites are actually his knees hidden in snow of snowdin, when you see him again at the hotdog stand in waterfall you can see that he is tall if you buy 20 hotdogs in a row. or you can see him towering over alphys in hotland where he will admit he hid his knees to make you not feel bad about being short. honestly i don't know how this became a forgotten detail but people really don't pay attention when they play the games ig. honestly imagine how less horrifying sans would be if he was short by the genocide ending.

Wow that was actualy true you can tell this as by file examaning undertale for whatever reason sans is considered a "background sprite" and there fore is considered larger by the game as his sprite is mesured by the BMT (background measurment total) and is therefor not only tall but huge

ok. as you know there is a lab with a blueprint behind sans and Papyrus's house, right? Well, in one version of undertale that was removed, there was a piece of code that made you see what it looks like. And it showed a mutation of tall sans! This was part of the fun value, and there is actually a piece of code that says that if it shows his sprite, make it a bit taller. Which includes the battle sprite. So that is why sans is tall. Boom.

[Warning, spoilers for various things ahead] Luigi can and has always been able to jump as high as mario and keep pace with him despite mario's reputation as being king of the platform jumpers. With proof being Mario bros 1, 3, World, Mario 64 DS, The party games, the various RPG series and more. In mario bros 2 he can jump even higher than mario and stay airborne longer. (But it is a remake of another game, and also a dream. Maybe mario wants better for his brother? To dream to see him outdo him one day? A reflection of maybe a feeling or memory he can't quite understand or fully recollect as if it weren't truly his own. As if he were always deeply wishing his brother could jump higher. Which would be odd if they were equal from the start. Remember this part.) Luigi's mansion luigi can't jump at all! For several games! And he's a bit of a slowpoke as well. Nowhere near as agile or rip roaring fast as his brother. And that's before Gooigi was introduced. So I'm going to argue that Gooigi was sent back all the way to the timeline from the beginning. Not just world. To take Luigi's place wholesale in an alternate timeline or prevent the Luigi's mansion timelines entirely. E. Gadd somehow knew or saw that In order to prevent the timelines of luigi becoming a ghost hunter waging a fruitless war against the undead, He had to do something to wildly change events and how they played out. As E.gadd himself to come to the conclusion that you are better off working with the ghosts as they used to be people with hopes and dreams and will leave of their own accord on their own times and terms anyway. And simply sending luigi back himself unaltered wouldn't do. Either through empathy for luigi knowing he deserves better than wasting his life on his own ghost hunting obsession that consumed the majority of his life. Or through a sense of having to do what is necessary to save the world or future even if it's not truly his own. This decision is reflected as E.gadd does indeed throw his own work aside to co-exist with the ghosts in less of an antagonistic role at the ending of Luigi's mansion 3. Gooigi also stays behind with the professor as well while Luigi goes on to hopefully live the rest of his life in this timeline in peace. E. Gadd also probably realized during this time, given he's proven he can send things through time once before that the future or at least, a form of it. Is at stake. (IE: It's canon that he sent Gooigi back to earlier events already, and he has pictures and footage of events that happened before that only happened after he sent Gooigi back. Proving he can somewhat see through time or timelines as well.) E.gadd had to have somehow seen or known that in an alternate past or future that Mario NEEDS of all the assistance a more jumpy capable Luigi can provide on several occasions to save the world (The first luigi's mansion, E Gadd was able to meet and see mario and realize his importance.) meaning that Mario would not have made it through the entire Mario & Luigi series in addition to Bowser's inside story In addition, avoid being captured so easily with a brother that can keep up with him and bail him out. So having a timeline with Mario having a jumpless slower brother like Luigi is impossible to have given the series we know. Unless someone who was altered, improved to be "Equal" to mario was the Luigi we know. To get back to Gooigi, Gooigi also starts as mostly a "husk" that luigi puppeteers around for the majority of the game he's introduced, and only later seems to exhibit their own will and cognizance after being in Luigi's presence for an extended period of time. Outright able to do things on their own entirely as a playable character in the multiplayer portion of darkmoon. Maybe he's becoming more real over time or being perfected behind the scenes by the professor with so much data from Luigi gathered over time? Or is directly and personally learning his mannerisms and evolving on their own? Maybe he could even pick up or adapt to Mario's agility and platforming ability with exposure over time.. Becoming just as fast, just as jumpy. But never particularly more- Oddly uncannily perfectly matched. As he lacks the ability to "improvise" or exceed who he's learning from. And if he can somehow adapt or learn or evolve- That might also explain why he still exhibits some over the top cowardice on the outside, but bravery and the will to go on still on. like the "Real" Luigi did. And why that behavior seemed to emerge over time. As gooigi was around Luigi when he was showing fear or unease most often. So it became part of the building blocks of Gooigi's personality even as he replaced him. So my final conclusion is. E.gadd created two timelines, by sending Gooigi back to either replace Luigi- Perhaps even sending him to a timeline where Luigi was never mario's brother to begin with. By doing so. There are now two realities, the one where Luigi was always by Mario's side and can keep pace with him, jump like him, and run like him. His near perfect equal, And the timeline where E.Gadd, and the no jumping retired ghost hunting luigi and his friends and brother all hopefully live out the rest of their lives in relative peace.

Hi Lumpy! Got any tips for someone getting into making pixel art?? The amount of detail you can present with just 5 or 6 shades of the same color is insane. How did you practice, and what do you think helped you improve the most?

My best basic advice (that I often have to remind myself) is to work as small as possible with as few colors as possible. There's also so many great resources out there, even all the sprites from hundreds of classic games. Don't be afraid to grab some sprites from an old favorite game, drop them into you art program, and attempt to emulate their styles. Pixel art is maybe on of the best types of art to learn by example.

We can deduce how tall Sans is by comparing him to his spaghetti loving brother, Papyrus, Papyrus is seen as a rather tall individual but an official estimate of his height isnt entirely known, but if we compare him to someone like Frisk who is a 7-8 year old child. And while we cannot completely confirm how tall they are an average child around the same age stands at around 4' tall, so this would be the most logical conclusion for how tall they truly are. So we've established their true height, but what does this have to do with Papyrus and Sans? As an example for a rather tall Undertale character lets look at Asgore Dreemur. Asgore Dreemur is rather tall compared to everyone else, but what if we translate this into our real world? During the opening cutscene to the game Undertale created by Toby Fox, we can see that Asgore TOWERS above the average human male. And during the Asriel Dreemur bossfight we can see that Papyrus has a much taller sprite when you encounter him in a battle, this implies that Papyrus is indeed taller than Asgore, and would posses an even bigger height than the depiction of Asgore we see in the opening cutscene of Undertale created by Toby Fox. This completely changes the game for how tall Papyrus can be perceived since he has proved to be even taller than the Monster King himself. But how does this relate to sans? Its simple, really. When we view Sans in the overworld we can clearly see that his stature stops at around Papyrus' shoulder, and we discovered previously that Papyrus does happen to be taller than Asgore, so Sans would compare to Papyrus' height aswell as Asgores, but this isnt the end of it. When we encounter Sans for the first time we can see that he bends his knees, along with having a generally bad posture, sLUMPing his body downwards, and surpressing his true, natural height, if Sans were to fix his posture, along with straightening his knees, its likely he could rival or even surpass Papyrus' height. But this isnt the end either, which brings me to my last theory.. how Sans and Papyrus summon their bones. Its no secret that the skeleton brothers can summon an exorbitant amount of bones to aid them in battle, but how do they manage to store such a volume of bones? Its simple, really. Sans and Papyrus have MILLIONS of bones in their ribcages. This is why both of them have made the decision to hide their chests in jackets or battle armor, to deceive their foes and carry bones more easily without risking their loss while carrying them. "But how do they obtain them?" Its simple, really. Sans and Papyrus naturally grow all of these bones. However, Sans is yet to channel his arm and leg growth by extending them with his spare bones. We can come to this conclusion due to the fact that no other monster openly possesses bones, and even if they did S&P would be unable to properly obtain them without turning their fellow monsters to dust. Sans is heavily implied to surpass his brother in strength aswell, his ability to summon Gaster Blasters and lift you with telekinesis makes him a much bigger threat than his brother. This implies Sans outmatches his brother in terms of raw strength, which includes their bone supply seeing as Sans has a much longer and more difficult encounter compared to his brother, meaning he could very likely sprout ALL of his bones into his limbs, and truly become the tallest character in all of undertale. The winner, and tallest boy, is Sans.
