I'm a woman who lives in NYC. Homelessness didn't officially start till the 1980s. It was Ronald Reagan who cut off government support and kicked them out in the streets. I'll never forget that. Some of us still remember the time when America had little to no homeless people on the streets. At that time, only drunkards, drug addicts and prostitutes were found hustling on the streets of bad neighborhoods. As for the present, I believe the main reason people don't want to approach the homeless is because they're thought of as either mentally ill, drug addicts or alcoholics, especially if they're dirty. People are afraid that if they approach them, they'll get attacked or harrassed. Others do this as a side hustle (besides stealing) because they don't want to work. I was on the train and a man, who was obviously filthy with a horrible smell was following me around on the train. I had to quickly get off the train to avoid him. Other times, I've seen them acting crazy. However, these days, homelessness affects people for other reasons: family dysfunction, job loss, orphaned children who are now adults trying to take care of themselves, CORRUPT AND GREEDY POLITICIANS, ELITES WITH THEIR DEPOPULATION AGENDA (should have put this first). Glad you're waking people up to the plight of the poor. When I approach the poor, I'll do it with someone with me. Thanks for sharing this video.❤

@cjay011 , I know what it's like to be homeless. Because I once was. I know what it's like to be hungry, because I was. Scared, alone, and hungry, that was me for a period of time in my life. I wasn't living, I was barely surviving. Now I am doing better and I would never pass by anyone in need and not do something to help. I would sometimes even steal meals and bring it back for those who have nothing. Many of the people would just enjoy talking and not being alone, I would enjoy those times the best, to sit and eat with someone were also so great. Sometimes they would even notice if I didn't pass by for a few days, they worried about me and that's worth stealing the meals. I can't get out anymore and I miss seeing them. They treated me like I was family. They may not have a home but they had heart and feelings. They deserve respect and to be treated with dignity. They bleed the same as any of us. Alot are veterans and served our country but our country has forgotten about them. I am sorry for ranting so long but sometimes I can't help myself.

And i owe it to family friends that hired me during my homeless addiction to be their private gardener, my wife for telling me get clean or loose her, and my family giving me a second chance... 6 years homeless, last 4 of those addicted to heroin and meth.. now im going on year 7 of getting a second chance... and its all because people gave me a chance to prove myself. Much love everybody!

As I commented before I was homeless and pregnant and lost the baby and one of those reasons is I didn't have enough food to sustain a growing baby. I did indeed feel invisible to the world but thanks to some women who started to bring meals to me on the streets and eventually put a roof over my head until I could get on my feet I found a new life. I now help out with the local homeless shelter when I can for those who are in the place I used to be. The regret I have is the guilt I now carry unable to look after the baby I had growing inside me. It's a horrible place I hope I never have to encounter again

This did seem kinda staged. Its easy to go 24 hrs without food. I do it all the time. Water is free. Go to a public restroom and drink from the faucet. Find a public drinking fountain. Watching this showed me how your life is normally. You did this experiment to get another perspective which is beautiful. Most people wouldn't take the time to literally put someone else's shoes on. I commend you for that you're a good human and a stand up man. But 24 hrs man thats piece of cake. Try a week. You do good work man I love your content and you help so many people and give back daily. We need more people like you and I see the point you're making with this video. Good work keep doing what you're doing.

I used to be homeless as a kid. I had to watch my family compromise what they knew was right cause there was young mouths crying for food or a coat. We were afraid of being split up. I get it. The videos are about bringing the awareness to the dilemma and inspiring even a small gesture. It took some miracles and the kindness of others, but we made it. Kindness brings Hope. ❤ I am sure we overworked some of our angels. But whenever we could we gave back sometimes bountifully. Pay it forward. ❤Love & Light ❤

This hits HARD, my friend. I've been there; with nothing...NO THING, and it's a hopeless, terrifying, profoundly demoralizing experience. Hell, in many ways, I'm still there. It's not easy to pick yourself up, all the way up, off the bottom. We become part of the scenery; so dehumanized that people walk right on by without considering, even for a split second, that our suffering might be relieved by something as petty to them as what they left in a trash can two blocks back. I have resources as well as an income now. For that I'm very thankful...and fortunate. For those who can and do lift themselves up, live without regret. Know that you've survived something dire and for that you're far tougher, more capable, and wise enough to know better than to take a single, tiny, solitary thing for granted...Because, guys, we are granted life and the rest is up to us. If you're still deep in it, please know that every beat of your precious heart is a new opportunity. Be well, love each other.

I have crossed the street before because I was accosted by a homeless person before when I was pretty young. I told them I didn't have any money and that I was sorry. Its not easy but I would never treat someone that way just because they didn't have any money to give.

Youre not used to not eating. Many of us go more than 1 to 2 days. Water in public bathrooms from sinks, coffeeshops or mcds bathrooms. Most are disabled or have illnesses because rents quadrupled and theres no rent geared to income housing. Odsp was only raised $3 for rent. $500 yet rents are 1550 to 2500 and no landlord will rent to odsp anymore. No ontario housing anymore. Worse govt in history for us older people with illness, disabilities who once worked, owned homes, rented longterm suddenly lose everything during the pandemic. Too old for govt to pay for reschooling.

Some of the greatest lessons I learned was from being homeless. Also, the people that helped me the most were my fellow homeless. We stuck together, we shared what we had and if one of us was hungry, but couldn't get food the right way we stole. You ever been so hungry it made you sick? If not you don't know what true hunger is. I'd just like to say that it's not the governments fault, it's not the world's fault, it's all of our fault the people who live on this planet. It's my fault, it's your fault, it's everyone's fault. Do you get it? The government, isn't nothing more than people like you like me but with power, it's just that the wrong people have the power. But you and me put them there. So you can't say it's their fault without it being your fault as well. FOOD FOR THOUGHT.

Unfortunately most homeless in my area are addicts and will not go get help to get clean and turn their life around. Most would rather be high then in a home. They do have free food at homeless kitchens but that's about all the help they will give to the addicts. They can sign up for SNAP benefits and get food stamps but many will trade them for drugs instead of eating. It's sad. We do need more resources for helping the addicts.

If watched so many of your videos, LOVE what you do!!! Need more people in the world like you. I don’t have much myself but I have a roof for my family and food for us all. I live in a small town so rarely meet anyone homeless but when I do I get a bag of food and drinks and cigarettes if they smoke. I spent over £100 on baby and lady supplies for Ukraine, often donate to our food banks….I’ve been hungry and struggled so I give what I can. So sad watching the videos where so many people ignore and abuse the homeless, or when people choose money over love….crazy!!!

I respect and appreciate what you are doing here. Thank you! You are correct. There IS enough. There is enough food to feed everyone, enough resources to give everyone homes. There is enough and there is a better way to live. This is a cause that I am personally passionate about AND experiencing in a "light" form. I don't have to sleep on the streets, but I don't know where my next meal will come from...or when. Hunger does get easier to tolerate the more you experience it but, medically speaking, extended periods of hunger cause real physical damage to the body. The mind is effected much faster. This country deals with homelessness and mental health in the most backward ways, which are completely ineffective and ultimately lead to actual growth of the problem. Our system perpetuates poverty and, once you start to "sink" into the system, it's like quicksand. I'm a lucky one. I have access to electricity for charging my devices, a shelter to keep dry and warm (mostly), an indoor toilet and sink, and wifi access. But I can't do laundry, buy food, or shower. I don't have a job. Getting one seems like the best answer, right? And here comes the quicksand...no one wants to hire someone who has dirty clothes, can't shower, and can't focus due to extreme hunger.

I was homeless in the early 90s. One person changed my trajectory of life. There was times I didn't eat for a good 2 days. We just have to remember it just takes one person to change someone's life. Pay it forward.

I watched a guy from my apartment window walking with no socks. He picked up a standing can of coca cola that was in the gutter, where the cars park, and drank it. My heart broke. I wanted to run down and give him something. Starving will make one do things one never thought they would do. Best find restaurant garbage cans. They throw out full meals customers don't eat or finish.

Most all homeless have their spirits broken as children by extreme childhood abuse. The dehumanization continues into their adulthood. Problem is when you are completely on your own without family you have to work double and triple time to make a good life. You will be socially isolated by the people in the middle caste as they have the luxury of doing superficial things and going on vacations to Hawaii while you are saving and going no where so you have an emergency fund. Being a girl it’s a little worse because the female culture as a gross general is nasty and petty making fun of people that walk in the door where they are working and wasting so much money on fake faces, fake hair and fake nails. It is impossible to relate to these people causing work tensions, maybe even job loss because you don’t fit with their culture. Hanging out with the low caste is no better, if you don’t participate in their poor cultural habits then you are not one of them and not fitting and won’t be able to gain opportunity or even keep work for example restaurant work and smoke breaks where everyone bonds and talks about their weekend party drama. I have thumped my head on the glass ceiling my whole life coming from nothing as a kid. It never gets better no matter how hard you work.

as someone who struggled with being houseless for nearly 10 years before making it into housing and a proper job i know and understand the struggles i carry a little spare cash and a few food gift cards with me, mind you having been there i know for the most part how to spot a scammer over a truly houseless individual. not to mention i work for a company that directly works with and helps houseless folk every day so i honestly know a majority of those on our streets here in my city.

This video made me cry. But, I agree with everything that you said. When I could work, I could not just walk by someone without giving something. Now that I can't work, my husband left me after 24yrs of marriage and I go sometimes 2 to 3 days without eating.

You started late. This would be after shelters and soup kitchens close for the night. 3am to 7am is the hardest. The damp cold air, exhaustion, hunger and lack of sleep really wear on you. Find other homeless! They will give you safety in numbers and advice where to get what the next day. I say the most important things right now are sleep and clean water. I think you can see how useless the sign is. Carefully if you sleep on a vent the humidity can give you pneumonia. Your immune system is not going to be as strong. Ok morning time. Again follow the other homeless they will be headed towards soup kitchens. Don't advertise you are homeless believe in yourself, go to the library which has Internet access to hook you up with the local services and make sure to get to a shelter before supper time.

I've lived off grid in Trapper Creek Alaska for 20 years now. I built my own tiny cabin here and I pounded my well by hand then too. 8 years ago I had cheap solar panels from Harbor Freight mailed to me. Now I can get internet access! And only 3 years ago I put my septic tank system down, digging it up by hand. Non of this has been easy. The Father led me out of one of the biggest cities in America to survive in the tundra, because my husband wanted to kill me because we were trying to be parents and had tests done to find out why I wasn't able to get pregnant. We found out during one of the tests that I had done on me that the reason that I was having trouble getting pregnant was because I had all my life a male nut where one of my ovaries was supposed to be. My husband promised me that he was going to kill me because of this. So I flew to Alaska and never looked back. I lived on the streets in Anchorage for 4 months. I am so grateful to one man who changed my life. I was begging for food on a Walmart parking lot and he gave me his car that he no longer needed. He had just bought a new car and told himself that he was give his old car to the next person who was asking for food. He told me that the only thing that he wanted was for me to pay it forward. I've been doing just that for 20 years now. I will spend the rest of my life paying that gift forward. I now have had a freebox here in Trapper Creek Alaska for 18 years. People donate things that other people need and I make sure who needs it gets it. It's not big enough to accept furniture or large items, but warm children's clothing and other needs you'll be able to recieve at my box. I am sitting here in my tiny cabin without a vehicle again. But I have Faith in our Father that he will again bless me so I can continue to pay it forward.

I am a new subscriber!...and unfortunately, this is the way society is!...and this is getting worse and worse by the minute!...people are totally self centered and self absorbed, only out for themselve's!...i love that you are doing this stuff, exposing the reality of society!...and it is almost impossible to break out of this type of situation because, once you are down and out, everyone around you trie's there hardest to keep you there!...love, empathy, sympathy, understanding, are all disappearing, nobody care's about each other!...some would rather literally kick and beat you, instead of help you up from the ground!...God bless you for all you do!
