@ Mark Tilbury Investing in precious metals as a hedge against inflation does not necessarily mean that your investment (gold, silver, platinum, palladium) increases in value. As a hedge, gold’s value stays the same, but the currency you use buys less of it. e.x. In the US if gold was worth 100 USD an ounce, and in the UK it was worth 73 GBP; if the US government ** the bed, the same amount of gold would cost a lot more USD while still being 73 GBP. A recent example is what occurred in Venezuela where people started buying sugar to barter with because their currency was losing value so fast. My most successful investment was thanks to Covid. I picked up 50,000 shares of Hertz Rental Car at $0.55/share.

Mining isn’t finding „new“ bitcoin, miners are just a node of the blockchain wich get a small part of the transaction fees for providing their PC as a validationpoint.
@DonutAngry4 жыл бұрын
Dont they also get a part of the block reward which would be considered as "new" bitcoin? (If they mine in a mining pool of course)
@gogodr4 жыл бұрын
Fees are part of the reward that miners get, but with each new transactions block new bitcoin is generated and each time less and less new bitcoin gets generated by new transaction blocks. That is why the amount of bitcoin is finite, there will be a point on which new transaction blocks just wont generate any new bitcoin and the only incentive to mine will be the transaction fees.

Best advice is: Investing is risky, so only invest money that you are willing to lose. When somebody makes money that means that others have lost money. It's simple advice, but valuable none the less. There is an old joke about investing, "I'm starting on my second million dollars -- I gave up on my first million!"
@dallassukerkin68783 жыл бұрын
Whilst it is true that investing in the short term has risk, in the long term then it is largely risk free, you just have to pick your moment to get your money out (if you ever feel the need). It is also not true that when someone makes money then someone else has lost money. If that were true it would be a static system and we would never have 'advanced' economically. Business as a whole is about generating more 'pies' rather than dividing up a pie of fixed size.

I have been a dividend focused investor for a long time. This does not mean I don't own growth stocks, I do. A well rounded portfolio should be a mixture of both categories. One way to minimize the anxiety out of stock market investing, is to make sure you keep a large cash cushion. I invest in the market, but never put all my money in market.

Hi Mark, I just had one question. I want to know if being 10 is too young to invest in stocks and index funds. Right now what i am doing is doing some chores and using the money i get from that to invest in stocks in and the S&P 500. I Just wanted to make sure that i am making the right choice investing in those things. Also Love your content you have really helped me learn a lot of things about investing :) Edit: I am Using my parents accounts to invest i will start investing with a custodial account when i turn 16, or can i get one when im younger?
@machess20754 жыл бұрын
Im 15 and what i did was to ask my parents to open an account for me. But whenever I wanna buy something my parents have to buy it from their device. And you’re not too young. The younger -> the better I have an cousin that is 11 years old. What he did was risky hahah but he checked a market newspaper and took the first thing he saw and it went up by 15% But if you are new and don’t know a lot about it I would recommend to invest almost only in funds. And be careful! Don’t ever hesitate to ask your parents. Good luck 🍀

Might be worth looking into micro investing company’s, Raiz (in Australia, acorns in the US), or any other well regarded micro investing company. Can invest with small amounts & make regular deposits (I believe with Raiz as little as $5 at a time) You can choose a risk profile, there’s a team of stock brokers that do risk analysis & diversify your portfolio for you, making sure you have a good spread of blue chips & risky shares (risky shares usually have the highest returns but, as the name suggests, you also run the risk of loosing your investment or having negative returns) They’re great for people who are just getting started I hope you’re aware (at least in Australia, not sure where you’re located, the minimum age to have shares in your name or to open an investment account you need to be at least 18 years of age) Be sure to do your own research, & never take uneducated gambles, I’ve lost plenty for making this mistake myself You may be able to open a brokerage account in your parents name if they are okay with that, one of the best tips I can give you is never invest money you aren’t prepared to loose. Most people will tell someone of your age to just open up an account with a good compounding interest rate & save until you’re 18 & able to open your own brokerage account. Possibly start some side huddled with your passive income, also a good lesson is one of the best investments is making sure all you’re debt is paid off before spending on anything, especially unnecessary goods. I hope this helps! Also good on you for getting in at your age, most investors could only wish they were that money wise at your age!
