I use to eat my favourite foods with such joy, now I just eat something like oh I gotta eat something so I won't die. My nasal surgery couldn't even fix it. Sucks.

Try taking a Zinc supplement. Zinc is hively important, for the sense of taste, and smell. And Sooo, many people are deficient in zinc.
@jefferyjeffery1707
@jefferyjeffery1707 4 жыл бұрын
@Big Momma's Life I do medical research!! Zinc is a critical nutrient, in so many body functions!! And if you're deficient in zinc...you dont have the basic mineral the body needs to have the sense of taste and smell. Try it for a month, and see!!!

@@jefferyjeffery1707 did you ever try the zinc? I lost my sense of smell 2.5 years ago and it sucks bad as you already know.
@jefferyjeffery1707
@jefferyjeffery1707 4 жыл бұрын
@@Zemarvelous615 Yes....!! I take zinc, everyday. Zinc among many things. Is also an important part of our inmune defense. As zinc is needed in our cells, to turn off virus from continously replicating in our cells. Same reason zinc is important in preventing cancer cells from continously replicating. OK....!!! SOOO...... In a severe virus attack like is going on in the world today. When the virus hits....one of the symptoms, is the loss of the sense of taste and smell. Even when your a kid and you were sick. Foods just had no taste!!! You ate a little bit....but it had no real taste. Ok...!! So when you get hit with a virus attack, when cells are rapidly replicating the virus proteins. Your immune system....your cells quickly start using up, your body's reserves of zinc. To turn off, that rapid replication process. If you dont have enough zinc....the replication goes on. BUT....as zinc get used up. There's no longer enough zinc to run your sense of taste and smell. Soo...you loose your appetite for food!! BUT....that's also a good thing!!! Because when you stop eating. It throws your body into fasting!!!!!! When in fasting...because your not eating. Your body starts to scavage itself, of old cells, and proteins, which is what viruses are...DNA proteins. To recycle them, for the proteins, to build other enzymes and cells. Sooo....in this process, which is called autophagy. And in doing so. The body is also riding itself of the infecting viruses. Melting them down, so to speak. Into the amino acids, your body needs. To build other things. Sooo.....there is wisdom in the madness....that when you get sick. You loose your sense of smell and taste. And you stop eating, because nothing taste good, when your sick. BUT....that fasting is needed. To help the body clean itself, of the virus proteins. You use up your zinc, to get the cells. To turn off this rapid replication of viruses. And by loosing your sense of taste....you start fasting, to turn on the autophagy. To clean your body of unwanted viruses!! It's also why, zinc lozenges work, when you first get that scratchy feeling in your throat, when a cold is coming on!! Zinc doesnt kill a virus. It merely gives the body the nutrient, needed to switch off...the cells ability to rapidly reproduce the virus, inside the cells!! Sooo....I assume, since you lost your sense of smell 2 years ago. It might have been when you were sick....or if you had a baby. When you were pregnant. Either way....you could be deficient in zinc. Hope these thoughts help..... Jeffery ⚘

I am so sorry for you. I had a massive head injury and lost my sense of smell a little over 30 years at ago at age 22. It seems there is not enough concern from those who can smell to research more. I hit my head again and now have tinnitus, also incurable. My preference would be to lose the tinnitus first. I especially miss being able to smell pine trees esp. at Christmas time and perfumes and flowers. I would think I'd died and gone to heaven if I got my sense of smell back.

i have had no sense of smell for over ten years, i was offered rhinoplasty surgery to correct a deviated septum. Unfortunatley doctor did not do a good job and i got an infection. So my nose collapsed and i looked like a boxer. I had a revision test and it looked better but collapsed again. third operation and i had to have the cartilage from ear to re-build my nose. Has my sense of smell come back NO.... so please look into rhinoplasty before deciding. Find a good surgeon. Im still recovering from third op so lets see what happens. i miss smelling but am used to it now. i really do want to stay optimistic and doing the law of attraction visualising my nose being healed etc. Anyway i feel for all you non smellers. my advise dont rush into surgery like Rhinoplasty as it has pretty much ruined my life. polyps is different its more of a simple procedure. Anyway if anyone can suggest a natural alternative to make my nose less congested I'm open to ideas

@@minoena Hi Kat!! I see most supplements are under 50mg. I take 30mg. You dont need a lot. But just a consistent supply. Zinc is used in about 300 functions in the body. And especially in your immune system, if you have colds/virus...as zinc gets used up, stopping the virus from replicating. So is important. But....if you start taking too much. It depletes copper.

Of course, this doesn't address the more serious issue of people that have never been able to smell. Sad that the person who was able to smell for 2 decades, then loses it, gets more attention than the one who never had it... And a lot of attention is paid to the person who cannot see or hear (as it should be). Why not to those who cannot smell? They are just told, don't worry about it.

I lost my scene of smell 10 years now it's really hard but I have the way to make myself temporary smell by taking prednisone, with a 50mg pill I cut into 4 then I take 1/4 a day for 4 days it helps me smell for a week, good luck.

Zinc, 30 mg., which can be purchased at the health food store. My 89 year old mother took 30 mg once a day for 3 days and everything was restored.

I can't believe that there is absolutely no explanation of what the surgery does mechanically in simple layman terms. Most surgeries are pretty understandable as to what they are doing mechanically. This however is a black box procedure I guess. Or maybe the Doctor has a reason not to be willing to summarize what is being done in a simple sentence or two. I for one would not trust such a doctor.

I got a head injury a while ago which was the cause of my loss of smell and taste and three Drs told me their is no surgery to fix this. I’m skeptical about the surgery.

Let make some lemonade, look on the bright side, you never have to smell anything bad again. I know their are risk involved, just sayin it’s not all bad. I help out homeless people very often and not havingto smell them has made it possible to be around them longer and help them out more than I would when I could no longer take the smell. Boy oh boy, they do get ripe and they do get rotten! Not trying to be funny at all. Just stating facts.
