In the deep south of the US they are often called "crawdads" or "mudbugs". People often prefer the whole spiced boiled crawfish and some will even eat the slightly bitter yellow fat that's inside the body shell in addition to the tail meat.

For the most part ,crayfish weren't thought of as a food source till the depression of the 30s in the south till the government started to push it as a food source to help to feed the poor folk in the deep south

В России рыба должна стоить копейки! Какой то сушеный полосатик в магните 50 грамм стоит 180 рублей... О чём тут говорить.

Yummy bugs! When I was a kid I would be out playing all day in the woods, get hungry and go to the creek and start flipping rocks finding crawdads. Find an old coffee can or something like that. Build a fire and boil up some bugs for lunch. Kids gotta eat ya know! lol
