Well if you had followed the hurricane, they only knew about 1 or maybe 2 days ahead of time for was to be a category 1< hurricane/ tropical storm that shifted from its expected course toward brownsville, then to victora before finally shifting south of Houston. Category 1 hurricanes normally don’t do that much wind damage. I’ve experienced a catagory 2and 3, and once it hits inland, normally its strength diminishes as it moves in but this one just came with a sudden surge from its north side arm and those winds slammed more inland. It surprised even me. Hurricanes can be unpredictable at times.

Things the City Needs to do before a Hurricane When moving into a disaster area there aren’t hotels or motels with power. 1. Keep an eye on the landfall of the storm 2. Have portable shelters ready to be quickly setup in large parking lots before the linemen show up for work 3. Shelters need to have sleeping quarters, laundry, food and any medical aid. 4. Shelters need to have port-a-potty ready to be moved into place and easy access for cleaning out. 5. Shelters need to have a water supply for a field kitchen, drinking and bathing. 6. Have a recreation area such as a tent for workers to unwind between shifts. 7. Shelters need to have diesel generators to service the different tents. You need to have the generators placed so they can easily be refilled with fuel. 7. Shelters need to have ample trash cans to keep the living quarters as clean as possible. 8. Shelters need to have portable laundry facilities so their cloths can be washed. 10. Communication tents need to be setup to instruct linemen teams on what areas of the town they are to go to and report back after completing their assigned work. These men will be away from home for a long period of time. They are getting paid a lot of money to do their job. The linemen I have seen look very tired and exhausted. When they come in from a shift they know they will have a hot meal, shower, clothes washed and get a good night’s sleep. These mobile tent shelters not need to just one city’s use. They could be placed in a geographical area where they can be quickly trucked into the disaster area ahead of the linemen.

We went five days in the early 2000's in Florida after a tropical storm that came in at Cedar Key on the west coast and downed trees in NE Florida across the state, etc. Then another one Elsa hit my chimney with an explosive bolt of lightening that blew 1/3rd of the chimney off, fried all our electronics on that side of the house, and drilled holes in the roof wherein a waterfall began coming in from the rain. Weirdly the lights stayed on. But I had bricks all over the side of my house out to the sidewalk in the front! Life in the tropics. Lol! Still better than snow.

People in Texas need to relax because the officials have no control over the weather. If you people lose power deal with it but stop getting frustrated because you will get power back.
