You are a patient man !!!! That is a lot of work just taking it apart and putting it back together umpteen times, let alone all that chipping !!! An amazing skill, I’m glad your keeping it alive !!! I pray during this time of celebration of Jesus’s sacrifice and resurrection that we would all find peace and reassurance in his promises !!! He is risen 👑 Blessings

Love this look into the history of how folks used to grow food and how they used mills to make flour. Corn meal, and other types of ground food. Awesome. Thanks for sharing.

I’m surprised you got Lester to talk to you any hahaha. You need to talk him in to doing a set down interview with you sometime I believe your fans would enjoy some of his stories of what his life has been like.

Mill dressing question. What did the old timers use to color the stones to check the high spots?

That's pretty neat. I used to go to Spring Mill, Mitchell IN as a kid all the time...they used wooden cogs and sprockets for their drive train. I Love old mills. Thanks for sharing. One question, do you ever have to cut the grooves deeper? Do you peck them out the same way?
@metcalfmills5679

Yes sometimes, I did that in the last video. And more on that later. Yes same way. Thank you for sharing

Hi: Thank you for the video. I heard you say all the corn meal dumps out at the same place and affects the wear on the stones. What causes it to come out at the same spot on the stones? Is it because of the cross bars on the band? Could more bars be added if that is the reason? Have a good day
@metcalfmills5679

I will explain my theory on that in a future video. Looking forward to hearing thoughts on it. Thank you!

Wonderful work, but I have a question. Why did you use a mill pick and not your bushing hammer like I see in other videos? Really enjoy your channel!
@metcalfmills5679
@metcalfmills5679 Жыл бұрын
The mill pick is for fine dressing, which is for flour. Sometimes I don’t use it on corn stones. Thank you!
