I love how you can go both ways with building a frankenstrat. You can either go the limited budget route and do it on a tight dime like Eddie did initially, or if you can pony up the dough, you can build a 100% accurate replica and by the end of either you still have a decent playing guitar and not to objectify guitars as wall art but you still also have a great conversation piece in the house that you built yourself. More of a win win in my book.

I played one of the £25k replicas by Fender a few years back at a music shop in the UK and it was quite surreal as Ed himself is documented as saying he could barely tell them apart from the original. Love the Kiss chords in the demo too. Love the way Ed took them and made them his own.

did a frankenstrat myself in highschool. took me about a month to do and though it was my first/last replica it came out really good, and i didnt fully realize that until i watched this and saw how close our guitars are lol. people let me tell you how stressful that paint job is to do. HOURS of taping, looking at pictures, then going back and taping it again to make sure its right. its pretty funny thinking we spend hours if not days doing a paintjob eddie probably took an hour to do most likely drunk back in the day but it looks so cool. if youre considering building one, go for it. its probably one of the most radical famous guitars you can build on an extremely low budget and with little experience, not to mention its a shitload of fun. theres loads of reference material and theres nothing special really about the guitar, just take the time and get the details right as with any build
