I find EVH fascinating, not only is his playing fascinating but just listening to him talk and explain his amps and guitars are also fascinating. They will never be another EVH and it was great while it lasted and at least his music will always be around.

Yes, you got that right brother! I have never paid big money for a guitar...but I would pay the 5000 bucks for this replica and I would probably never play it because that is a work of art lol!

It’s funny that Chip says he discovered VH from the 1984 album. I knew someone just like that. He’d never heard of them until the 1984 album, probably because he was much younger than me, and he asked me what other VH albums he should get and I so proudly told him to get every album before 1984 and get ready for the ride of your life! Still makes me smile to this day imagining him getting his mind blown by so many awesome songs!

My cousin, Jeff Scott(Scozzaro), a well known custom auto painter/striper originally painted the guitar when a young, unknown Eddie walked into his So CA shop and asked him to paint it. Sometime later Jeff was in a market and saw a magazine rack with a photo of Eddie and the guitar he painted, and was shocked to see it.

Eddie seems just fine in this video. Just a down to earth guy and the rock and roll lifestyle falls on you as you get famous and things progress. It happens to everyone in every band from the 1950's till today. I sure miss Eddie and those days way back when and I saw VH on tour in Huntington,WV while in college at Marshall U in 1980 and my best friend and I were front stage right in front of Eddie with Dave center and we threw them joints which they smoked on stage live in real time. They were drinking Heineken from the drum kit area with Alex who was downing them between songs. Just the best show ever!! I'm a guitar player since 1974-75 and watching Eddie from front stage was a life long inspiration as well as the entire band whom I loved as well. 😊

The proudest moment in my guitar building career was when Lynn Elsworth of Boogie Bodies and Floyd Rose walked into my shop( Roxy Guitar Finish)and we signed a contract to paint 100 Floyd Rose guitars a month. That was better than the conversation I had with Ken and Paul Warmoth about the "5150" guitar while I was being reprimanded for telling they're boof son Chris Warmoth I had to smoke weed before I could even look at him because he is the poster child for being a butt plugg!!! I got to fire him outa the paint dept. AWESOME!! He then delivered pizza and would wait a couple months before showing up to ask me for his job back. The answer was absolutely not.

Roth really was the leader of the band , he gave them direction and motivation. Eddie was the genius , the composer . The heart & soul of the band. Alex was the foundation, him and his brother were the strength & power of Van Halen. Michael was the loyal employee who carried the van halen flag into battle every night . Then sam came and also gave the band direction. We will never see another Van Halen ever imo. One of thee greatest R&R bands to ever exist. R.I.P Ed ...

I totally agree with Ed. Fender necks and bodies feel WAY better than Les Pauls, but that humbucker is the shyt! I’m SO glad I rented a Les Paul first, and realized I hated how it felt and played. Then I tried a EVH Franky, and said that feels WAY better. Then I geeked out and built my own! Mine is about 90% to what Chips is, at 1/15th the price. Totally happy with it!

I built a lot of balsa wood model airplanes from kid to teen years and learned a lot about masking and spray-painting. This is an interview and to make it interesting, a lot of things have been embellished. Anyone who makes a true replica would have to have the real model to work from, not from photos. In the photo with both of them with three "frankenstrats" you can clearly see that the stripes on the upper horn of the guitar on the left do not match the one in the middle of the photo.
