Are you a right or left handed golfer?? ⛽🔥 *Milo’s Favorite Drill to COMPRESS the Golf Ball: milolinesgolf.com/compress

Growing up playing baseball I had a terrible arm but I was an adequate batter. So throwing analogies for golf don't help me, but lately I've taken to swinging the club as I swing a bat, using my torso to turn and not thinking about my hands or arms during the downswing. It's freeing me up considerably, reducing the "hit" impulse.

Love you guys but, omg, the audio!! I hear Milo make references often to "things just happening without someone actually forcing it" or something like that. I really was intentional about working on my swing this year and fixing my "flip". As I've begun to overcome those old tendencies, I've really noticed how I no longer am really thinking about what my right or left arms are doing. I've finally learned how to match up my lower and upper body and now my thoughts are on club face control and shot shape. I was never successful in trying to put myself in one of the positions you see in slow-mo videos or pictures of the pros. Those positions seem to happen as a result of matching up the lower and upper bodies. Not sure if anyone else relates to this but I wanted to comment because Milo really helped me understand that better.

I've watched this same guy get lessons from ALL the top instructors on youtube and he does the same 2 things with everyone of them. He won't let them talk, and he's in love with the sound of his own voice. Oh, and he still hits it like crap....in spite of all their instruction. Probably because his mind is trying to process 75 swing thoughts in 1.5 seconds.

As an East Coast guy, glad to see that it's not always sunny in SoCal! I like to feel like I am turning and leaving the trail arm behind. But don't you need to keep the trail elbow in front of the shirt seam (GG box)? As far as good golfers and rt elbow diving, I've seen Moe Norman photos that look like that but don't know if they were action shots because it looks like his clubface if wide open.
@MiloLinesGolf3 жыл бұрын
The right elbow will get on or in front of seam line with forearm supination and wrist extension. The arms stay in front ideally and don't lag behind. The center of mass (clubhead) is what gets behind. Thanks for watching Dennis!

Good lesson. Brooks Koepka is one player who comes close to driving the right elbow in front of the chest. The only player I have seen actually do it is Garrett Clarke (GM golf), he was very slim, I agree it is a fault. Like many, Bryson has a gap between right hand and grip just before impact, no rh force there. I would like to see evidence of what force top players apply with the right hand. Do you think rh force is used at the top to pull down and increase lag? My rh does not bend back far so I can't do it.
@MiloLinesGolf3 жыл бұрын
They’re all pulling down on the grip but the question is how. The longest use their whole body to pull creating a big stretch in the Lat that can be unwound
@briantimlin2650 Жыл бұрын
Hi Milo, what works best for me is to swing back feeling a small move into my right side, turn my upper body, swing my left arm, and then move through transition to left arm parallel with my pressure now 70% on my left foot, feeling my shoulders are staying closed while getting my hips open. I continue that feeling of getting the hips open and more weight to the left all the way through impact and obviously the hips are pulling the mid torso and at some point they stop turning and the mid torso starts to catch up almost fully by impact. However, I always try to feel like I'm keeping the upper body closed all the way to stop throwing the club out, keep my head back and keep right bend through impact. Is that another way to describe the same thing you say about the golf swing?
@MiloLinesGolf Жыл бұрын
Could be but I’d have to see you swing to say for sure
@Nonyabizznaz Жыл бұрын
Milo I have a hard time getting through impact doing this. I know it’s correct but have fallen into a rut. I load, pressure shift, squat, hip begins to open, which shallows the club and as I rotate I get stuck. Maybe I’m not shifting enough weight or maybe I’m hanging back.
@MiloLinesGolf Жыл бұрын
I’d have to see.
@povrtsux1 Жыл бұрын
So, if it needs to feel Like a slap, then we’re to use the right arm as the dominant and PUSH. Would that be correct?
@MiloLinesGolf Жыл бұрын
Could, but I prefer a bigger system approach, more so where I am transporting my trail arm with my middle.
@danielhudson8303 жыл бұрын
I have notice that you, Milo, keep your right arm straight longer in the backswing. But, your partner, (can't remember his name) tends to bend his almost immediately. It looks like you are swinging the club back, and he is picking it up to get it back. Could you explain if there is anything that should be done differently if you are picking it up, or is it just a different way to get the same result?
@MiloLinesGolf3 жыл бұрын
Ideally you’d swing it back I’m not a fan of picking it up
@swish1onu3 жыл бұрын
The thing that so many instructors forget to mention is that there must be torque created FIRST... and that means HIP rotation starts earlier then the downswing.. and as you "lag" the club.. it can swing from an inside out direction

I have an unusual question for you Milo. Can cleats (soft spikes etc) impede some people’s ability to swing a golf club to their best ability? When I swing a club in my house for practice to keep loose I usually have a casual flat bottom shoe on a carpet. I feel I can swing more comfortably and maybe faster and am careful not to slide. When I get outside I feel somewhat restricted. Soft spikes are there to prevent slipping but is their something I could be doing differently outside? I literally feel stuck and slower outside sometimes, but here there is another variable added which is the ball. Have you come across this? Do some need to play with shoes that allow for the feet to move a bit? I’ve noticed tour players feet moving around quite a bit on some but mine seem to grip too much sometimes. Can you shed some light on this? I should also mention that this is especially bad on the mats which we are forced to use this time of year as the grass practice tee is closed.
@MiloLinesGolf3 жыл бұрын
Yes, this is an interesting question. I've heard of people who say they prefer wearing classic shoes like the greats because they encourage better footwork, but many of today's best wear fairly basic shoes with just rivets on the bottom. They are almost sneakers. I would go for something that is comfortable for you and allows you free range of motion. Perhaps a golf shoe with no cleats, but some decent rivets on the bottom for some grip. Hope this helps, thanks for watching Nelson!

Wonderful video, just what many of us need to better understand the simplicity of the golf swing. Now if you could do a simple video of how to hit up with the driver keeping the hands in front of the ball - but try to do it farther away from the highway noise. I kept expecting a plane to land on the driving range. Personally I hit down which causes me to flip at the ball to get height, breaking tees pretty much on every drive. Your channel remains my favorite for detailed explanations something my engineering background enjoys!

Yes, the throw is therefore a more body rotationally driven action where the right arm extends later in the action.
@papadoc32523 жыл бұрын
The left foot provides the “braking” motion that facilitates the uncocking of the right arm and wrist. Done too soon or abruptly and you hit it fat. Too late and the club doesn’t stay square to the plane and the ball goes right. Yes?

@@MiloLinesGolf most amateurs would love for the shaft to fall back and not fight it. Even when Mike demonstrates his baseball swing there’s no tipping, it’s just not natural....He also says it’s a feel, I really don’t think he’s explaining it right.
@maeu593 жыл бұрын
Just to add, even though the club falls back you still have to add the little down and away clockwise turning of the hands to square up the face otherwise it’s wide open coming down. That’s what I really think Mike mean’s because I heard him say it’s just that little move at the top, why he says tip the shaft I don’t know.
