Here is a summary of the recent golf lesson I had with Ted where I helped him stay in his posture and stop standing up through impact.

Milo is a *great* instructor. Finds root causes quickly, knows how to fix those root causes, and communicates in a way that’s easy to understand. I’m lucky enough to be able to see him here in AZ. If I wasn’t, I’d definitely hit up his online coaching program. You rock Milo!

Perfect refresher Milo! I was already working on most of these things. But it is awesome to have a real-life example and a demonstration of the key concepts. Very grateful to you for these reinforcements. Please don't assume that you have made these points before, and hence there is no need for repetition. These mini lesson videos really help. Thank you!

I’ve had to practice in slow mo with tempo, repeatedly into a net to move through this. If I get to normal speed too fast, I fall back into old patterns. Especially easy to do when you have the hit from the top urges :)

My favourite KZbin instructor. Love, Love, Love this video!! Moving the right hip back, away from the target line on the takeaway, is the least emphasized part of the backswing in golf instruction but it is one of the most important. It also helps avoid "over the top", one of the most prevalent faults plaguing amateurs. The most harmful piece of "golf instruction" to me was to lock your right leg and turn your shoulders. This was supposed to maximize the difference in the angle of the hips versus the shoulders creating a larger "X-Factor" resulting in more power. No. It results in a weak, out to in downswing, creating a slap swipe at the ball, resulting in a slice, or a duck hook if you close the face. Trust me. Been there.

Boy that face being open especially in the early transition down from the top of backswing is a real killer! It seems to be a real culprit and root cause for so many of the compensation moves in golf.

0:18 Interested to hear your thoughts on trail knee movement on his “after” swing (swinging out slightly as opposed to straightening) and the appearance of his head seemingly still not quite covering the ball at impact. Are these minor “faults” that Ted will continue to have to work on? IMO the new trail knee movement makes hip rotation easier. As for his head position…only an issue if it leads to centeredness of contact issues, correct? Thanks!!

I've struggled with staying in posture during the swing and the fix I happened upon the other day centered on two problems that emerged from this: first, I was susceptible to topping the ball, even with decent weight shift forward. Second, I hit many shots off the toe of the club because my swing path was over the top. Solution is to push my lead glute back rather than simply extending my lead leg. The extension still occurs but I have enough room for the swing path to come from the inside. This is similar to what Milo had his player do by keeping the trail hip from getting in the way. My percentage of center hits has increased and the topping has (so far) not re-emerged.

Milo, So good… without that depth you have to make up that four to six inches back to the ball (to in front of where you started). Seems like the depth is actually rotation plus that move back toward target so that from the top you only have to squat and rotate (same move) vs get back to ball or rotate (can’t do both in such a short time). An example of an expert teacher is one that can teach the same thing many different ways. You have talked about this probably 7 or 8 different ways, which allows you to continue to connect with a wider audience. Much appreciated! Alan

Milo, excellent well presented lesson sir, thank you! I am committing to this instruction, especially #2 because of all you’ve outlined as well as the fact that I can’t compress my shots while committing these faults. I’m confused about #1 and the grip though. Is the weak grip a result of the faults in #2, or was it a standalone issue just at address?
@MiloLinesGolf
@MiloLinesGolf 2 жыл бұрын
Hard to say which came first but I’d guess he always early extended and flipped so he simply matched the grip so he didn’t hook it too bad.
