The single best thing I ever learned from you Milo, is this: "I teach the athletic motion. Not feels. Feels are different based on what your current tendencies are. It will be different for different golfers. Even for you, it will change over time as you fine tune your swing periodically. But, the athletic motion is always the same. That's what I like to teach my students." Hallelujah, my friend and golf guru! You have transformed my understanding of the game. And, my back and left knee are very grateful to you.

I like how you state that there are many different approaches to the golf swing, but that the swing you teach is athletically based and doesn’t involve precise hands & timing!

Another helpful video, thanks Milo and Henry. One point that i've learned from your website and other videos is how important it is to keep the right wrist in extension at the same time. Otherwise you'll hit the ground heavy every time. Keep up the great work !

Milo, I have read about the idea of squatting or reflexing in the downswing from other teachers. Your explanation of the reflexing move with the left knee doing a circle during the transition is the best description of the move I have seen. I keep a log of my practice sessions and I started working and watching your videos and drills for a month now and my swing is changing for the better. I still have a the issue of occasionally clanking the ball off the toe, but I fully intend to join your site for my Christmas present to myself. I cannot wait to see your teams analysis of my move and what I can maybe do to help work on this contact issue and improve my game. As usual your right on the money in explaining the what and the how people can add or subtract from their swings to improve and enjoy the game even more then they do now.

I also like to think of my body SQUARING or parallel to target line for just an instant as I'm starting down, and to square it it gets the hip bump, the squatting, the lowering and keeping the right side back initially thereby slotting the club

This drill is great because it's simple and kind of muscles memory alert (@@ sorry for my English). Feels like I can find out which muscles I need to invoke to do the drill and through impact. Thanks Milo and Henry.

Great video. I can get the squat but I don’t understand where the turn comes from. Is it the belt Buckley rotating? Or is it the pull from the left lat? The latter feels more powerful
@MiloLinesGolf2 жыл бұрын
It comes from a few different places starting with the pelvis which stretches the anterior slings and then the torso engages and rotates
@aligizzle692 жыл бұрын
@@MiloLinesGolf thanks for the reply! So is it a conscious thing- to squat and then pull the left hip back, which then tightens the anterior sling? I’m excited to go to the range and try it today

@IIrandhandleII2 жыл бұрын
believe the squat also requires torso separation. The more squat the more separation? Also how do we know how much to shallow the swing plane?
@philiphartley3527 Жыл бұрын
Exactly when does turning the right foot into the ground clockwise to open the hips happen? It would be after flexion is added to the hips correct?, or is it more at the same time for someone who struggles with the right hip shooting towards the ball
@MiloLinesGolf Жыл бұрын
The right hip is being loaded in the wind up and the foot is constantly torquing the ground but in the unweighting phase that torque works to square the hips by p5

Great video, Milo - one thing I've never grasped in the movement pattern is, as the lead knee goes external (and distance between knees expands), when does the chest start to open? It does not appear to be simultaneous - there is a little disassociation there. but at the same time, if there is no initial chest movement while your lead side begins to clear, it feels like my arms can get trapped too far behind me. Perhaps another video on the athletic sequencing? cheers, Scott

I have noticed that the longer hitters who raise their lead heel plant it closer to the target at transition in a toed in foot position, how does that fit in with the Snead squat IYO?
@canefan172 жыл бұрын
Hey Milo, In order to make room for the squat, do you feel like you extend and/or standup in backswing? Sorta like you’re weightless and floating for just a split second before allowing the squat and rotation to happen?
@MiloLinesGolf2 жыл бұрын
Because you are delivering shaft lean the lowering is needed to reach the ball.
@bjohnson5153 жыл бұрын
The feel in the trail foot for a right hander... In the downswing, does that trail foot feel as if it wants to rotate clockwise? Some say the feel should be the trail foot feeling as if it is pushing back....(away from target line) Your thoughts? Thanks for the vid.
@MiloLinesGolf3 жыл бұрын
Yes the trail foot both torques the ground clockwise because you are undoing the internal rotation of the trail hip and it pushes back away from the target line later in the downswing.
@moosepaddymurphys Жыл бұрын
Great video but I’ve also been following Elite golf videos and they did a video on the drop or squat and they said that the front leg or femur to be exact stays internally rotated through part of the downswing and they said that the drop the basketball drill wasn’t a good one. You both have the same philosophy but this contradiction is a bit confusing. Could you clarify? Thanks love your videos👍
@MiloLinesGolf Жыл бұрын
Everything has its uses their model swings Joaquin Nieman and Victor Hoveland use the ball dropping drill oftentimes. Can that drill be overdone. Yes! When we measure what is happening at the hip level we see that the front femur is externally rotated in the backswing and in the downswing it is correct that the lead femur is rotating in the internal direction in the socket because the pelvis is rotating open faster than the knee is opening. instagram.com/reel/CZqF2YBgcOS/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

When I think about squatting I lose height and always hit the ground before the ball and the ball always slightly hooks especially with my driver
@MiloLinesGolf3 жыл бұрын
Most high level ball strikers loose height in the downswing. If you hit the ball fat you are either not pivoting well enough or are pushing the club down with the trail wrist or elbow.

Never occurred to me that doing this drill, your club sort of gets really low down to p5 pretty easy without any muscular effort at all. The arms and hands stay up while you drill, and the hands and arms naturally come down pretty easy. I think I’m doing too much arms and hands at my top of backswing.

So which do you advocate, the lead heel planting closer to target like Justin James, Jack Nicklaus or the Snead squat which plants the lead heel in place or away from the target. It’s been almost a year since my lesson Gankas but he teaches this pivot style and my rotational speed picked up but when I noticed his most prominent student Matt Wolff moved his lead leg differently I recently started replanting the heel closer to target and got another speed increase. I think the the difference is ground force and how much quicker you can accelerate and brake the body by planting the lead heel closer to the target. I’ve been using this drill. m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5_TdmCMapWshZo Curious what you think.

@joshuawhittemore1283 Жыл бұрын
Snead would always say he felt like he was sitting which started the feet/leg leg action. He did warn that this action was developed for the classic swing which called for raising the lead heel off the ground. At no point should your head Bob up and dip down, which typically lead to chunking horribly or standing up out of the shot.
@ericzellershow2 жыл бұрын
Just from the thumbnail I feel like you need pants on the tactically stretchy side to even have a chance of achieving this level of squat and turn.

I just looked up what's spikes are. No wonder golfers look so stable, they're cheating. You can't wear spikes in disc golf, but I know if I did it would give me an unfair advantage. I mean how is a golf instructor going to even mention stability when you've got spikes holding you into the ground. Definitely kinda sad your have to wear spikes to be on even footing in golf. Might as well allow you to put something tacky on your fingers so your grip is better.
@Boovda3 жыл бұрын
They do, it's called a golf glove.

A lot of pros and elite amateurs aren't really wearing spikes any more.
