It's a treat watching this show. Jiles manages to resist all the familiar gimmicks that ruin most similar shows. Here there are no silly sound effects, "swoosh"es, synth punches and booms, corny clip-art, cheesy video tricks with endless zooms, flashes, double images, etc. Just tasteful, sober, well-narrated, intensely researched stories and relevant images. Top class, Jiles. Thank you.

Really appreciate all the hard work you do! I love your quips and humour, how you humanise the victims, call out the monsters crappy behaviour, but what I really love is that you don’t sensationalise the stories, you don’t use stock footage, you don’t add unnecessary music, you use real footage, real photos and good old fashioned storytelling skills. Nothing against music, stock footage etc, but it’s so heavily overdone by crime channels, whereas Giles keeps it respectful to the victim, blasts the monster, and doesn’t turn the victims story into a sensationalised song and dance, he keeps it real, something I’ve very much missed in the true crime genre. Enjoy your break, it’s well deserved and I hope you enjoy yourself! I’ve also found this is one of the nicest fan bases on KZbin! Sending much love and appreciation from Scotland 🏴 🦄

I remember this monster. I grew up in Chicagoland, was in my late teens at the time. I knew people from all over, I roamed all over, often at night. Between him and Alton Coleman in '84 people were on edge all over; many went about armed because of them. Fun fact: A friend mine and I had walked the lakefront by Northwestern University the night Coleman and Debra Brown were caught. My friend and I were on our way to find a restaurant in Evanston to grab a bite when a TON of police cars started to converge. She calmly told me to get the hell out of Dodge, which we did.

However, the point of this post is to express how avid a reader I've been my entire life and it just occurred to me that I enjoy your podcasts because you tell a story as well, or better (!!!), than any of the best authors I've enjoyed being immersed in the world's they create. I've always read books for how they are written, first, then, for the subject matter. You exceed both those requirements to attain and keep rapt attention! I believe all of us are born something; some artists, some writers, some storyteller, and, unfortunately, some monsters... You, sir, are an EXCEPTIONAL writer and storyteller, producer and director... You would make an excellent author and should write some books. They would be best sellers among us who still enjoy the beauty of the construct of a written word/story. I am among hundreds if thousands who appreciate you immensely! Side Note: my 19 year old college student is who made me aware of you. I'm so grateful to him. That's just to let you know your audience reaches and continues to be informative and awe-inspiring across geographical, ethnic and age groups❤ To any naysayers or trolls: I know he won't see nor respond to this so leave me alone. Instead, you take the time to go through the victims/perps backgrounds, and anyone else relevant to the story. You also take the time to find trial footage, audio, 911 calls, etc, which obviously takes time. You also use just the perfect amount of personal commentary and instinctually know exactly when to insert your thoughts. - Anyway, I'm happy to subscribe and have started my binge-watching past episodes. lol - Great channel. Dude, you do a wonderful job on all your videos. I have to say that I'm utterly sick and tired of hearing about a serialist being sentenced to death then having their sentence commuted to life without the possibility of parole. I'm not stupid but I looked up the law definition of "Commuted" and found: "In law, a commutation is the substitution of a lesser penalty for that given after a conviction for a crime. The penalty can be lessened in severity, in duration, or both." How in THE hell is it fair for a serialist to be given a commuted sentence? Is Prison the New AirBnB? It's a damn slap in the face of the family of all of their victims - they are given a lesser penalty and your loss/grief means absolutely nothing. When a prisoner gets sentenced to death - that is what they should get, period.
