Just what my baby needed, just a little TLC. My uncle gave this to me well worn already but this brought it back to life (it was still a beast). My only issue now is that I noticed the rear of the drill gets pretty hot even running it with no load for alittle bit. I know the brushes create heat but I've never noticed it get that hot in my hand before taking it apart to clean and regrease everything and resurface the brush contact points...wondering what went wrong or if it's normal..

What kimd of grease did you use inside the gear case? Im rebuilding a few of these drills myself and I cant find what type of grease is needed in these drills.

Nice work! Quick comment, I think you generally don’t want grease on the outside of a bearing, it could cause the whole bearing to rotate in its housing rather than for the inside ring to rotate only? Also WD40 on bearings probably isn’t ideal, I imagine it can work its way inside the bearing and mess up the grease packed inside.

My 2607 has been repaired by Milwaukee twice. If it is still sold in kids do not buy! Thank me later. It has such a hard stop sometime bits come lose.
