I had no problems with my 2019 107, but decided to 'future proof' it by doing a camchest upgrade. On taking the cam out, one of the lobes was showing a lot of wear, only 7500 miles. A local harley mechanic said to me that these bikes come out of the factory basically with issues that need to be addressed from day one. You're kinda screwed either way, if you leave the bike stock it might be eating itself inside, but you won't notice for some time. However your warranty will remain intact. Problems will likely show themselves after that warranty has expired. You upgrade early ( oil pump, lifters and cuffs at least ), and you screw the warranty but you have a more reliable bike. If I took my cam into harley and showed them the wear, would their argument start with why did I open it up and tell me I'd voided the warranty? But if id left it alone it's gonna eat itself anyway. If I knew how to include pictures in this post i would.

I have a 2022 Softail Standard and I love the motor performance. One thing I hear all people say when comparing all Harley motors is that they all have their flaws. It makes it look like there are no good Harley motors lol.

Anybody with a M8 have the dreaded sumping issue? I have a 2018 RG with only 10k+ miles, so ive got the older oil pump. Anybody think i should change the oil pump before summer? Planning on flogging her.

Yes on the oil pump. Also, get a Feuling sump plug.

Twin Cams suck!!! Period! Twin cams with those opposable cams were junk, the twin cam appeared because when the EPA measured the noise of the Evolution single cam design, it was found to be too much noise for the environment. The M8 destroys the Twinkie. Period. Twin cams were just awful motors and my last one was a 2013 Road Glide Ultra... when I traded it in for a 2017 Road King it was a huge difference! Stock! The day I traded my twin cam in it had blown the rear cylinder on the ride to the dealership! Karma intervened!

Yeah I don't know why they decided to go with a 2 valve twin overhead cam. That is dumb what is the point of having a twin cam if it doesn't have 4 valves per cylinder like the m8.

A few years ago I helped a buddy replace his pipe gaskets on a 2005? Street glide Special or limited? with 80K miles. He bought it used with like 30K and never got a tune and rear cylinder valve was SNOW WHITE and he said "I know" but I just want to trade it for something newer. Why didn't the motor fail during those lean 50K miles and 8 or so years yet other bikes just self-destruct. I love the smoothness, power and look of the blacked out m8
