I'm an electrician and recently picked up one of these after watching your video. I got it because I have 2 luxury homes that I'm currently doing, and both of them have trimless recessed lights. Each house has about 150 of those lights. Each light has a bracket that takes 4 screws to set them before drywall. I got it at Home Depot, the drill with the attachment, and 2 batteries. It came as a bundle with a free tool for $398. I got it and returned the "free" tool and ultimately spent $253 for this setup and 2 batteries. I flew through the 300+ brackets. Honestly, the difference in screw price has nothing on the labor and time that you're saving, and you don't mess up your fingers by holding the screws all day.

Yeah I basically just price the more expensive screws on my bigger jobs.. it’s much faster and easier to put a screw in while holding the board as well. You basically get a free hand.

Man man man…. I did drywall for over 25 years and never had this. It’s kinda funny I’ve been looking at these screw guns all week and you make a review. I was pretty fast with a regular drywall screw gun back in the day but nowhere near as fast as I could be with one of these. Nice review!! Appreciate it!

You are welcome… I’ve used the Dewalt one before I switched to Milwaukee. It works well but I like the Milwaukee Drywall gun and this attachment better. I’d be happy with either though. Yeah you are probably one of the guys I was talking about. I’ve seen some guys load screws at an unbelievable speed. I mostly like using one on ceilings, for the extra reach… and the free hand to not load screws. Appreciate you watching 👍

@@MORGANSMaintenance YeAh, I started with my dad back in the late 80’s and back then everything was nailed off with nails by hand. We didn’t have routers to cut boxes and windows out. All cuts were made by hand. Things are much better now, but still hard work either way.

@@DanO181919 yeah it’s a job a don’t mind doing in spurts… but it’s rough to do every day. I’ve been doing the most drywall I’ve ever done on 3 different jobs… all at the same for the last month. I am feeling it, my arms are about gone 😂

I just used this a lot over the last few weeks. Still works like a charm. I’ve used the collated screws from Home Depot and Lowe’s with no problem.

It's very useful at every drywall job. I use my Makita even if I need to install 2 boards. It just faster and easier than with regular screw gun. Consistency is the second biggest advantage - no screws sticking out, no screws too deep. The first one of course is speed. It requires some preparations to use it efficiently. Studs need to be lay out precisely, you workplace must be really tidy and drawing lines on your boards is compulsory. I always use a compressor or a blower to clean the magazine, especially when doing ceilings. Some of the cheaper collated screws are not spaced correctly and it causes problems. I just buy good (=more expensive) screws. If it jams, just clean it. To dispel any cost doubts. From today's job - I had 16 m2 (172 sq ft) of walls to install. The walls are double sided and I install two layers of boards on each side. So it gives you 64 m2 (688 sq ft). I work alone. I use 2 m (6'6") boards; rooms is 2,6 m (8'6"), but I cannot use longer boards, because transporting them would take too much time (remember Europe = little space). In that walls there are two doors, two corners and one t-junction wall. I had 24 boards to install. It took me 3 hours. I have a comparison with two-man team and a similar job. They did it in 2,5 hours using a regular gun. So I was 75% faster. And I won't be using a screwdriver when mudding these drywalls :) BTW. Makita gun (XRF02Z or XRF03Z) is very slim and it work quite well in the corners.

I did find that it was more consistent on sinking the screws with the attachment than the drill alone.. I was actually surprised by that, but I think it’s because you put more pressure on the board when you use it. I find when I use the gun alone if you don’t use your hand to press on the board, you get some inconsistent sinking of screws. 75% faster and you didn’t have to count on someone else to show up and do their part… (That is the hardest part in the USA Today… it’s easier just to count on yourself and find ways to get done faster) I normally always frame the areas I drywall, so that helps. Every now and then there is some patch work but that’s always a “it is what it is” situation.

The collated attachments are useless the front depth gauge slips on anything longer than 25mm rendering it useless Milwaukee UK said they had no known issues and this is our companies 3/4 attachment purchase, so I returned it the ones remaining and will go in the bin. When these units came out they worked for a year and then started to slip, and a brand new one had exactly the same issue get a Hilti 5000A-22a these are the top tier of collated drywall guns!

As long as the head makes it through the hole, I'm pretty sure it'll work with Milwaukee 48-32-4802, the Phillips bit version. There is a certain size Milwaukee bit you CAN use. For example I was looking into all these fancy drills to do cement board siding. Turns out, you can use 1-1/4 SQUARE BIT #2 Senco sheetrock screws with this WITH a MILWAUKEE 48-32-4805. And it's set on 1-1/4 also. If it didn't fit, I'd drill out the plastic hole slightly larger on the collater attachment.

It might end up working with that, I’d have to pick one up to try. I did an ACME tools order and needed some tools to get me over 199 for free shipping. Threw in a few of the replacements so I’m good for a little while. I will see if my Depo stocks those. 👍

I have this and keeps jamming. I watched you screw in like 12 in a row without one of them messing up, and I got jealous. 1 in 20 screws will actually screw until the backside/inside of the nose. It just is always messing up. If I am not absolutely perfectly straight with it, the screw doesn't sink or I end up screwing into the backside of the nose. What am I doing wrong here?

Very cool, and I don't even do drywall. My only question is the screw bandleader... is it disposable so that you have to buy more, or is it refillable like when you're empty do you put screws back inside it?
@MORGANSMaintenance
@MORGANSMaintenance Жыл бұрын
I’ve never tried putting screws back inside of it, I’ve always just bought more. You have me a little curious now… I assume just laying here thinking about it that once the head of the Screw goes through it probably spreads it out. Not that I would probably take the time to reload them all the time, but there are times it would be worth loading up some if you were out and didn’t want to run to the store (working overhead) I’ll have to try it an see, I don’t currently have any empty ones.
