Жыл бұрын

Welcome to my restoration channel. This is a restoration of Milwaukee M12 Impact. I was at a local auction and picked this set up for around $30 USD. As seen or heard in the video, the impact was making a weird growling noise, so this lead to me replacing the motor. This is probably the newest tool that I restored/rebuilt. Would you pay $30 for this kit or pass it up? Let me know.
THE RESTORATION PROCESS
I tore the Milwaukee m12 impact apart and gave the parts a good cleaning. I sandblasted the nose cone and and bit sleeve. I gave the nose cone a quick polish and clean which would be the final result. The bit sleeved was hot blued. Hot bluing is the process where the part is heated up then quenched in oil to achieve the blackened look and to help prevent rust. This part turned out great. I regressed the hammer assembly then put it back together. While working on the plastic impact housing, I messed up some of the rubber, so I fixed that with some glue. I repainted the Milwaukee branding and replaced the decals. As you could hear, the impact was making a growling sound, so I replaced the motor and regreased the gears. You can sure tell a difference.
I think this small tool kit was worth the money and I will be using it in the future.

Hey! I bought this M12 kit at an auction for around $30. After the purchase I found out the impact was messed up (Probably why it was at the auction) oh well…. Sooooo I restored it! Was it worth it? Also here is another auction find that I restored for my dad. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4HHf3mgjqaBoKc

Unfortunately not worth it at that price. If it was at least the m18 version or the fuel m12 then yes, but the ones you got were not worth it in that condition for $30.

My Makita 10v impact is an absolute beast. I've used it every day for the last fifteen years. The kit came with a drill and an impact. I never used the drill but I beat the hell out of the impact. So when the trigger broke on the impact I took them both apart and put the trigger from the drill into the impact. Those old electric impacts and drills still sell for around $140.

You may could have opened the old motor and replace the brushes or bearings. Just an idea. And since you already replaced the motor, operate on the old one to see what the problem was...can't damage it any worst now. Thumbs Up!

9:48 common reason for noise is dry bush that makes contact with the anvil shaft. You should of greased the shiny round perfectly machined shaft near to prevent friction, premature wear and play on the anvil shaft. But other than that nice restoration video. 👍

Here in Brazil the top brands are Makita, Bosch and DeWalt. But from what I understand Makita loses to Milwlalkee. Milwaukee doesn't look easy. It is more concentrated in industrial use. But Makita has been losing robustness, like this all-plastic torque multiplier on some screwdrivers. Premature engine burnout... They're riding on brand strength.
