This tool is awesome! Cutting threaded rod is usually a huge pain but this tool makes it super simple. Here is a quick review of the tool.
The Milwaukee M18 Brushless Threaded Rod Cutter (2872-20) is a dedicated solution for cutting the most common threaded rod sizes on the job site. This includes coarse thread rod from 1/4 in., 3/8 in. and 1/2 in. mild steel to 1/4 in. and 3/8 in. stainless steel. The cordless threaded rod cutter is powered by the Milwaukee POWERSTATE Brushless Motor and delivers 400 plus cuts while powered by an M18 REDLITHIUM 2.0Ah Battery. The 4-sided cutting dies allow users to cut all sizes of threaded rod on 1 tool by simply rotating the dies. The all thread cutter has the clearest line of sight and delivers clean, burr-free cuts allowing nuts to be threaded on by hand without having to file down the ends. The rod cutter features optimized blade geometry and cut speed to prevent chips and sparks while cutting. The tool features auto jaw opening allowing fast, repetitive cuts while a reverse button helps prevent unintended cuts. The tool's centered grip provides the best balance for 1-handed overhead trims, while the flat horizontal design provides users with a stable surface for benchtop cuts.

I have the dewalt version of this tool. It has paid for itself about 500 000 times over in saved time on the jobsite. As a commercial plumbing company we primarily hang pipe from threaded rod in sizes from 1/4" to 1/2" rod. Not having to mess around with a portaband, grinder or other rod cutting methods has saved us thousands of hours of labor and frustration over the years. We are on our third set of dies on ours, and it hasnt missed a beat. The purchase price is hard to justify for most tools but if you do this type of work every day its totally worth it. Our dewalt one was $700 CDN back when it was " a new type of tool" that was about 5 or 6 years ago now.

Can't agree more. If you consistently cut threaded rod it's worth every penny.

Does anyone else have a problem with a small thread burr sticking out, every once in awhile. I bought the unit and the dies were already in it for 3/8”, which I’m cutting. I’m just wondering if the dies are installed correctly or not sharp enough. It’s a new unit and it’s not consistent with the burr. Just looking for ideas to try.

When you bought the tool, did it come with the dies?

Thats a nice tool! Something i want but will wait till i find a killer deal on it. In the meantime ill have to ise an angle grinder cutting disc then a deburring tool.. then maybe a tap and die set to clean up the thread… pain in the @$$ but least its not too often u need to cut bolts

This tool made me go from completely hating cutting it to not even thinking about it. If I'm doing a boiler I have to make a dozen cuts and it was a huge pain.

Yeah but is the battery thought because it looks so sloppy in my opinion

My drill battery is not that lose. So I just found it odd that the battery rocks like 1/4inch side to side.

@@FamTech. bet it got dropped on the battery so it’s not held in super solid, hence why it was sold as used

@FamTech. Yea it's does seem loose but the battery and tool are both Milwaukee brand and were both brand new in box.

I've done electrical and pipe fitting so having to watch my ass for plant people or a white hat while I'm struggling to trim down all-thread because the yahoo that put up the hangers left 3 inches of rod hanging down is the reason I'd get this...if at the right price...

I've noticed this too. I flipped the dies and I'm still having it happen intermittently.
