I get what you’re saying about it not being a big deal being cordless because it’s not that portable, but for someone building customs homes for farmers out in the middle of nowhere, without power to the site yet, it sure is nice not to have to pull out a generator. And with their new nail gun I might not need to lug around a compressor either.

They should design a "miter station" you can plug into 120 to power the saw AND charge the battery or when theres no 120 nearby, run on the 18v battery.

Hi Vince, I totally agree with you on this milwaukee 12" sliding compound miter saw. First if milwaukee is "never" going to have a multi power tool on their table saw or 12" miter saw then they should have had it with 2 batteries. Yes, they are saying only one 12ah HO battery can do the job but if you had 2 batterires you will have that extra reinforced power for a 12" miter saw. That will probably be on their gen 2 model in a couple of years. Second, the price is way over price especially when you can get a corded for only $360.00 on a deal at Lowe's. You will always have a power outlet close by. Now, saying all that it's a very cool option to have cordless when you have no power source or if power goes out. I have to say that DeWalt covered their bases on this issue. It can be used with batteries (2) or cord adapter. This will help dewalt when they come out with a 10" table saw that has the same option as their 12" flexvolt miter saw. Milwaukee really needs to rethink this issue. Thanks for your honest opinion and great video.

DeWalt has just had more time to refine their corded saws they pretty much set the standard. Milwaukee's direct gear drive is going to be the future they just aren't their yet. For now DeWalt is the only way to go in miter and table saws if you really push them every day.
@michaelc7283

@@zack6892 Yes, i hope one day one of these company will get it right. For now DeWalt cordless miter saw seems to be the right chose if you want both corded and cordless option. Again, It seems like milwaukee is trying to prove that one battery can do it. I just just feel for this large 12" miter saw it should have had two batteries. Still nothing wrong with having two m18 batteries to run a tool. We will all see how this new milwaukee 12" sliding compound miter saw performance with one 12ah battery . I hope it does well.
@zack6892

@@michaelc7283 I agree, you can tell they really over engineered it to make it effective with one battery. They need to get past that ideal and just apply this design to a dual battery with corded backup. I believe the day they do that Milwaukee will dominate the saw game because their geared setup has so much potential with minimal parasitic draw in comparison to a belt. Perhaps they aren't trying to compete with DeWalt in raw power, instead maybe they are trying to create a market for efficiency and reach an entirely different consumer base. Only time will tell for now I'll hold onto my DeWalt!

I love my Milwaukee 7 1/4 mitersaw. The best thing about it being cordless is not the portability (because it always sits in one place on the job site) BUT I’m not having to fight other people for extension cords! I plop it down its stand and go. I can cut and install trim as fast as I can for 10hrs a day and the saw’s 5ah bat only goes down one bar max.

Huge Milwaukee fan here. I think they missed the mark. Had they offered a battery/plug-in option, this would be a "must buy" item. As it is, this is just another "OK saw". I'm not a huge fan of DeWilt, but credit where credit is due. The Dewilt's power options are just better than Milwaukee. Sorry Big "M". Just my take on it.

DeWalt hands down but Milwaukee is definitely catching up. As of now the DeWalt flex is gonna be the most reliable hard working 12" you can get in its price range but when Milwaukee decides to release their next gen I could totally see it surpassing DeWalt. The Milwaukee design is amazing on paper the direct gear drive should offer far more consistency then DeWalt belt setup but they just haven't refined the gear box in my opinion it tends to stall and lock out when you push it hard meanwhile the DeWalt will take anything you throw at it and keep chugging (the belt slip is negligible and actually serves to prevent blade stall). So in short Milwaukee will eventually be the better 12" maybe but for now DeWalt rules the miter saw territory.

For the price , it needs to have a built in charger. Like a radio. Plugged in when electric available. When it’s not available or when a breaker pops. You can still keep going. Shutting down a job site when a breaker pops and a homeowner isn’t home would be a thing of the past.

I love Milwaukee tools but I have to say there's no competition between the Dewalt flexvolt and Milwaukee. It cuts close to as good as the dws780 ( which is the best miter saw on the market that I've tried). And the option to plug in when you cant afford tear out due to battery depletion. You should give it a try if you haven't yet. Dewalt is the only miter saw i trust on my cabinets and millwork. Great video.

The days or cords are numbered. OSHA is coming down hard on extension cords. Way too many injuries are attributed to them. Both electrical and trip/catch hazards. If you are a contractor who doesn't have 2 friggin batteries for this saw, well, as my old drill sergeant used to say, I got nuthin but luv for ya. For goodness sake, has ANYONE exhausted a full battery in a miter saw before the day was out? 2 batteries? The cord option is a bogus argument like saying you want your lawn mower to have a corded option. For those who don't get electricity, the larger the voltage difference between tool voltage and line(outlet) voltage(18v to 120v), the bigger, heavier, and more expensive the adapter will be. The adapter for the DeWalt saw only has to step down 2.2 to 1(120v to 54v) enabling wiring and circuitry only 1/3 as heavy as required for the 18v platform which is 6.6 to1 step down. But what are you gaining? A battery on the saw and one charged, or on the charger, no problem. If you are that strapped for cash that you can't swing another battery, get a corded saw, or a cheaper brand. Surprisingly you'll find that MOST cordless/corded tools perform better on the battery than with a cord anyway.

Milwaukee is owned by Techtronic Industries, headquarters is in Communist China. Horst Julius Pudwill is the cofounder and chairman of Techtronic Industries, who grew up in Germany. I cut steel pieces all the time with it, it’s a beast. Doesn’t weigh anything, and honestly I change the 9 or 12 amp battery once a day...yes what an inconvenience. If you’re looking for just a saw, go buy a cheap piece of shit; looking to add to your collection(I.e you have batteries and other tools of the brand) there really isn’t a better saw out there. I just finished comparing this saw to the dewalt and rigid corded saws, Milwaukee has the same power but is cordless. Whatever stuttering he’s talking about is his own issue, as I said earlier it cuts steel studs/channeling/tubing with ease, but he can’t cut wood trim with it?

Year old video but cordless power tool companies make their money and keep customers longer simply because of the batteries. If the customer can save a few bucks on tool only, the company will keep that customer & it’s more probable that they’ll end up buying an extra battery or tool later on. If milwaukee made a power tool that connects to ac wall it’s easier for us to just plug it in when we’re near the power grid and not spend on another battery. Sucks man but i don’t see why we couldn’t make a dc to ac inverter unless Milwaukee implemented a deterrent safety feature for this exact reason. The same power bricks you have on your laptop between the wall & your computer do the same thing, they just have a set voltage and amp rating specific for whatever it’s powering. Thanks for the video!

Hey man love the videos and I’ve bought a few more Milwaukee tools after watching reviews. 🤙🏼 I’m from Australia and I have had trouble finding a review between this new Milwaukee single battery miter saw and the Dewalt dual battery miter saw, shoot out in how well they cut through not on softer timbers like Pine, but I wanted to see if you could possibly do a comparison between the two while cutting so hard wood like an Australian spotted gum or a iron bark timber. Please keep up the fantastic videos man🤙🏼

Curious if anyone has had the opportunity to actually use this on-site for finish carpentry? Very seriously considering buying it when it’s released in Canada, but want to hear about any flaws experienced users have found. I know all saws have something that could be improved on, but looking for heads up to decide which flaw I can live with most!?

The "feature" that shuts down the saw after successive cuts almost renders it useless for a production trim carpenter. When i need it the most, it's turning itself off. Also mine sounds terrible, whining, grinding, it sounds different every time you pull the trigger. Been using it 1 week. Sux dewalt has nothing cordless available.

I know this is an older post, and many of you home DIY people could care less, but the move to battery-powered everything, including saws like this that traditionally are basically stationary tools, is the commercial construction space has made life difficult to run extension cords. They have so many "safety" rules involving them that contractors elect to use battery-powered tools and keep chargers close to the outlets.

Vince, i think you should review the Ryobi Double Bevel 10 inch Cordless Miter Saw, and i promise you will be impressed, and its a quarter of the cost of the Milwaukee m18 Fuel 12inch. at $324.00 i think its the best cordless miter saw for the money at 10inch. and if your willing to do it i will help fund it!!!!!!!, because i love mine and i have a Ryobi 10inch corded slider miter saw. and it has Corded Power!!! @@richardvera9946 $629 at full retail, I got mine for $545 vs. Nearly $900...you practically buy a SawStop shop table saw for that price. That's a quite a difference to small business owner. As Vince also stated, a miter saw is NEVER going to be a compact tool. I dont have a problem with a saw being 63lbs vs. 49lbs if it's going on a rolling cart either way. Feel me? Plus I'd never go cordless on a miter saw. I'm a finish carpenter, and I KNOW theres been a MAJOR technological jump with cordless but I never have to worry about blowouts or chewed miters with a corded.

@@operator8014 corded brother. Corded. You're familiar with @RB ? I subscribe to his philosophy when it comes to miter saws and table saws. I cant really get down with spending the cash on what I've experienced being at best simply lighter and on a timer with how many cuts you can make in a given 8-12 hr day(meaning at LEAST needing to purchase 2- 12ah batteries to really cook with gas) -$$$ and as I've stated, the anxiety of running low on juice and having a piece of expensive stock blowout or get chewed up on a kickback. Theres plenty of examples out there on YT sharing these concerns/downsides. Doesnt mean they dont have a place in some contractors life...just not mine.

Will you at least provide an option to run a charger off a Solar setup on jobsite ? Probably not, for "We are Milwaukee, take what we give you!" NOPE ! I'm going with the manufacturer that lets me do my job most efficiently !!! It is NOT your job Milwaukee to restrict my work capabilities !

Have you heard anything in the way of @Milwaukee making a rolling, folding miter stand? Bosch has the best rated one, dewalt is second, I’d really love to see them come out with a new-ish design that would compete, no, totally dominate the other brands, so I don’t have to buy from another company!!

I would love to see a set of built in stops on the table for crown to rest against in the nested position. Not a saw on the market but the old Delta that I have now offers this feature. Seems like every saw you have to make your own jig or inprovise. Missing out on a feature that everyone will use. Deflection is also something all miter saws need to improve on.
