Tim, I'm a mechanic and I'm a huge fan of Milwaukee, my favorite thing is all their tools have interchangeable batteries. Dewalt failed at that. I have a 3/4 drive Milwaukee impact that is no joke, use it every day and have had it for 4 years. Also get the battery powerd ratchet. Your wrists will love you for it!

Milwaukee makes some very nice tools. The Sawzall was the first one that caught my eye as a kid. It seems you know how to put an edge on things.

Maybe your shop doesn't get as much dust and grit as mine but I've found putting a cover over the MIG wire spool makes the liners last a lot longer. I normally just throw my welding shirt or leathers over it. Keeps the wire running smooth and less corrosion/better weld quality. Grinder looks great. I've wore out 2 corded 9 inch over the years but I use them hard. I can't complain about those as they owe me nothing. Can't say as I care for their chop saws as they are pretty weak and burn up quick.

I have that same grinder. I'm sure it is a beast. The instructions that come with it show using a different guard with a cutoff wheel. I want to use a cutoff wheel but I am confused about using one with or without a different guard.

I’m glad Milwaukee decided to let you try their gear. It’ll definitely going red for the next update, first will that impact and then the light tower. That light tower will get used a lot around here and it’ll be our new camping light as well.

Hey Tim, I like your presentation of the tool video on Milwaukee, I watched a lot of tool presentations on KZbin you are a step ahead of the rest of them. Did have trouble with the sound it was not quite loud enough I have noticed that on your shop videos, no biggie I just hook it up to my Bluetooth and turn the sound up thanks so much for your effort and your awesomeness LOL thanks ldr
@cotontop36 жыл бұрын
The sound inside my shop is a tad different and one of the biggest factors is the distance from the mic. I was kinda toast here because of the sparks and not wanting them to hit the camera or the mic and ruin either. With all that being said, I still had some room to adjust in post but I opted to leave it like it was so quality would still be ok. I’m glad my channel isn’t a cutting and welding show because those challenges dealing with sparks.

That grinder sure has a bit of grunt in it , but I noticed that the power slightly decreasing judging by the sound of it , I'm only assuming but I'd say it would take 10 or 15 minutes or more before that power decreases after heavy force use . Still that is not bad , not bad at all, actually pretty good I'd say, I'm a DeWalt guy and that Milwaukee 9 inch is damn good .

JUST ordered one. I can't wait to try it on some 4" cast iron pipe. The 4.5" fuel angle grinder is great and all, but she cuts out on a janky cut and don't bite in as deep as i want. Hoping the 7-9" grinder will do the trick.

Milwaukee is doing some things with cordless tools that were once only possible with gasoline or line powered tools. It is great to see what this big grinder can do. Thanks for posting the video. One thing though, I do not think the battery will shut itself down if it gets too hot. One online video shows the inside of a modern Milwaukee battery and there is no switching device between the battery and the load. There is at least one fusible link but once that is open it will never close. What seems to happen is that a microcontroller in the battery monitors cell voltages and pack temperature and sends that information to a microcontroller in the tool. It is the tool that shuts down or reduces power to protect the battery. Lithium cells contain a lot of energy and mixing brands could be dangerous. This is why I would never use a non-Milwaukee brand battery with any modern Milwaukee tool.
@cotontop36 жыл бұрын
I got it too hot in this video. The battery lights will zig zag back a forth and once it cools, it’ll work again.

Someone left a review on Milwaukee site saying it does not come with a backing flange for cut off wheels? That doesn’t make any sense to me is this correct? I just ordered one and need it for a job so any information you can provide me would be really appreciate it.

This is a really nice tool. However Milwaukee is overcharging us over here in Europe on the new tools. The grinder and the circular saw are about 900 USD each. The gen 1 circular saw for comparisson is just about 400 $ with two 5.0 Ah batteries. I am not willing to pay that much for the new gen, no matter how good it is.

HOLD UP NOW, you totally skipped over how you put that cutting disk on it. It was clearly a flat disk and the backing plate it comes with (and you clearly used) doesn’t fit a flat disk. It’s made with a flare to fit only the flush cut disks with the hump in the middle. You changed the lock nut to something else and left the original on the table while cutting. What did you use to make that disk work and why did you edit that out of the video?
