Yup, hard blow molded/inaction molded cases are far superior. I have ONE tool in a bag, the Milwaukee M12 impact and hammer drill, and the bag is always getting sawdust caught inside it, the tool I want is at the bottom, it doesn't offer very much protection, and I can't immediately see if everything is present. And that's a very small bag. I couldn't imagine a larger one. With a plastic case, I can dump out the saw dust, blow it out with air, or spray it out with a house. The tools all have their place and I know everything is where it should be. All the tools are easily accessible. And the plastic cases are near indestructible.

So we finally have a gen 2 brad, along w/ the 15, 16, gauges. Will be getting the framing nailers....but I still can’t get rid of my compressor b/c of siding/roofing nailers, & 23g pin nailer(yes know there’s 2 brands out). Would be slick if Milwaukee released an M18 version of these tools in the future. Once they do, I will actually be 100% cordless on the jobsite. Never imagined a day when this “could” be possible when started out in the trades. What a time we are living in....exciting along w/ future possibilities 😁 Cheers✌🏼

Instead of a compressor, now you're bringing a generator to charge batteries. Not a bad trade off at all, it means that you need no stinking hard wired power to complete a job.😁
@Southernboy302

@@IncogSkbb021 A lot of newer trucks have inverters built right into them and obviously having more than one battery is ideal, but if I had someone working on my house I wouldn't care if they charged their batteries while working. I get that could be an issue when it comes to new construction without an utility hook up tho. Either way it's still way less bs than having to deal with pneumatic hoses and time wasted on clean up.

Absolutely agree. Technology.... Hate it but love it! Here's a good example of both. Love it because obviously it is awesome. Hate it, because I'm going to buy one. Love it, the guys will want one claiming more productivity and efficiency, so my wallet will get a couple thousand bucks lighter, and I'll have a stack of great pneumatic guns taking up spaces in the trailers and shop. Really looking forward to being 100% cordless on site though.

I bought one because I did all of the flooring in my house, new molding and such. This thing was super easy to use and quite frankly overkill if you don't have a large project or series of them. Also, think the softbag versus a hardcase allows for more storage of select sizes of brads. For example, most hard cases only leave enough room for MAYBE (1) 1500ct box. So I actually dig the larger bag. Plus it's just going in the job box.

Hard cases are 💯% better then bags. Cases can usually be locked. Even though that only keeps honest people out, it is still a nice feature. You can even use zip ties, just to make sure that everything is inside and nothing has been “borrowed” or removed. You can ad foam to cases to keep tools from moving around and getting banged up or scratched. Soft bags, are basically for transportation not storage. I think Milwaukee has done this on purpose, so that people will purchase their PACKOUT storage containers.

Hard cases go straight to the landfill anyway. They're more expensive, bulky, and inconvenient to access. If you must cut costs somewhere (and you do) this is hardly the worst place to cut them. Sort tools by task into toolbags and put all the tool bags into a Rubbermaid tote. You can carry the whole shebang into the house and cut down on trips out to the van.

@xenonram

A husky bag isn't any less prone to being stolen. If you leave a bag, branding or not, somewhere where it can be stolen, it will be. You leave a bag in your car and it's unbranded, and a thief comes along, he's going to steal it regardless.

I just came home with a pack of 1 1/2" brads for my 18g, only to see that the max size for it is 1 1/4". Never realized this. So, now that I'm on the Milwaukee battery platform, I'll be running down out to grab a Gen 2, which also lets me flex up to 2 1/8" brads. Thanks for the great info~!

Just a note: The tool does NOT use a bladder or a air cylinder like other nailers (Ryobi air strike for example). It uses a permanently sealed cylinder that is pressurized with nitrogen gas. Took mine apart and was not able to see much else, it seems as if the striker is always under pressure from the gas and then it is released and retracted by the brushless motor. However I could be incorrect, it could also be using some sort of valve system to redirect the gas in front of and then behind the piston to fire the striker.

Got a porter cable cordless brad nailer at a pawn shop.. shoots 2 inchers with no failures, none... I have used the thing on so many jobs I would replace it kn a heartbeat.. came with 5 batteries and a grinder I needed Couldn't justify buying the Milwaukee grinder bare tool to work with my existing batteries after I found the set of porter cable tools for like $125 .. grinder 2 drills brad gun 2 chargers 5 batteries lol.. The thing seems to shoot about 300 nails on the little chincy battery.. Definitely NOT as fast as the Milwaukee though, maybe 1 a second or a little faster but it's absolutely a quality tool

basically that's what I'm doing is molding and and I do molding around windows and doors I don't like to run my molding right to the edge I like to let my molding sit back maybe like an eighth of an inch and frame out my windows and doors Highway because then when you caulk it out that little reveal that you left Crockett painted it's perfect

I have this gun and I love it. I only use the hard tip though cause the soft tip is too soft and it will roll out of the way a little bit and allow the striker to come in closer to the material and change your depth setting. I do use the multi shot quite a bit for putting in filler pieces where I need them and it works really well just bouncing the gun, its not as fast as a pneumatic but the time you save just grabbing the gun, nails and a battery makes up for that. Ive only had 1 jam in the year and a half that owned mine and it was an issue with a nail and not the gun. Other than that, money well spent for me. Its paid for itself 3 times over. I'm waiting for a gen2 15 gauge and the new 23 gauge. Once I have those I wont need a compressor for most of my everyday work. I only have a siding gun and framing nailer that I still use air for and if I'm breaking those out on a job its because I have a lot of nails to drive and a battery framing gun just isnt going to cut it.

First let me say, love watching your videos, great information and keep them coming. I Just purchased this nailer as a bare tool 👍💪🏼 all the way, so glad I waited for the Gen II. Consistent power and nail depth control with every trigger pull. I did have a nail jam, was very easily and quickly removed. Tool is fairly lite and very easy to use. Great site view on the tip and I was also impressed that it came with two additional nail tips that also store on the tool, very cool! I ran it with a 3.0 compact all day and only used 1bar. I definitely like the fact that it will stand when the battery is in and also a huge fan of the tool-belt hook. I highly recommend this tool if you do finish carpentry and your looking to start leaving the compressor and hoses at home.

If I didn’t already have the Dewalt 18ga I would definitely purchase the Milwaukee. The Milwaukee seems smaller and with no ramp up and kick it’s a win for team red. Milwaukee just did it much better than Dewalt on this one!👍🏻👍🏻

I prefer the hard cases, but I will say there are some advantages to the bags. For example, I bought the M18 fuel supersawzall kit and have been able to fit both the kit contents plus my gen 1 sawzall, 7 m18 batteries, and several blades.

@@VCGConstruction I was thinking about this some and I would prefer that Milwaukee to provide a case option alternative with the contractor bag in their kits. Bosch had this option with their, IDH-0282 impact driver/ wrench kits. At bare minimum sell an aftermarket case for $30, or whatever they typically retail.

It is nicer that the mode button is a separate button and not using the some power button like on my m18 finish nailer. That is like what they did with the new m18 light that was based on the m12 version with the magnets and beam clamp but with the ajustable light head and changed the mode button to be a separate button that keeps the mode setting after you turn it off.

Hi Vince, Really like the milwaukee gen2 model. The first one was a really bad design. Glad milwaukee just did a total redesign. I use the DeWalt 18g brad nailer (20v) and it's great. The only two issue i have with it is the motor rev up noise. It get annoying after awhile. I like how the milwaukee sounds in this video. The second is the led light. It's ok but just not bright enough due to its location. Amazing how all these companies are improving the cordless tools. I still have my air tool and corded tools for back up. Thanks for the video

I invested in the full line of Porter Cable 20v nailers. I bought them ridiculously cheap on clearance. As I understand it, the DeWalt line is identical. Their only weaknesses? Contact actuated was not an option, ramp-up time is noticably long, and they weigh sooooo much. Haven't gotten my hands on Milwaukee's line yet but it looks like they kicked SB&D off the playing field in every category. P.S. don't judge me, yes I bought all Porter Cable tools back in the day but I didn't know at the time I would be a tradesman for life. I'm a Milwaukee man now.

You can buy all 3 porter cable nailers with battery and chargers cheaper than this one Milwaukee nailer with brad and finish nailers you don't need to fire 3 nails a second so stick with porter cable nailers they will do the same job for a lot cheaper

@@loucifer323 for myself I don't intend to buy the Milwaukee untill my Porter Cable die. And I don't know about all three cheaper. The regular price on the Porter Cable was crazy high. I think $700 for all three back when I bought them. But like I said I got a much better deal on clearance.

Have most of my power tools in a bag, some of the hard cases like the one for the electric planer are huge and take up way to much space. However some power tools like my hand router I do keep in the box so spanners and bases don't go wandering.
