Awesome video! I’ve been running the two vacuum set up for about 7 months now and couldn’t agree more on the time savings and the smell. The new packout vacuum is so much quieter and convenient with the hose location vs 2nd gen. Have a great weekend!

Your welcome. Even if I wasn’t in Packout, the bags make it worth it for me. I do wish they would have made separate bags for it and the M12 Vacuum instead of a smaller one that fits both. Hopefully their will be an aftermarket bag company come out with some in the future that will be bigger and cheaper. Appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment 👍

Noise and filter bags are huge for me too and they help your motor last longer too. Had my son's M18 gen2 for couple weeks and found it super handy but noisy. I highly recommend STIHL for quiet plug-in shop-vac and MIELE for house vac it barely purrs. I really dislike obnoxiously loud appliances. Vacuums and compressors are the worst offenders.

Hey man, here’s a pro tip. Get some women’s panty hose and put it over the internal filter. Cut the pantry hose to length and tie a knot in the end to create a sock. Then, just cover the filter like a sock on a foot. It will stop bigger debris from going into the filter, but it is thin enough to not restrict airflow.

Thanks for the video. I like my basic M18 vacuum (gen 2), the biggest beef I have is the hose gets clogged easily. The fitting where it enters the vacuum is the culprit, the opening is quite small. I also dislike the dust bin - who thought that rolling the plastic edge over and leaving a lip to catch dust was a good idea? it's almost impossible to completely empty it, something always stays stuck behind that lip.

@@MORGANSMaintenance I love brushless motors for most things, less wear, less noise, and ramps up power under load. Unfortunately I think for vacuuming, ramping up is not a desirable feature. I want maximum suction all the time. No need for even a low speed switch either. I believe the Fuel Packout actually delivers less powered when it's not under full load. So while Fuel will pick up boards and weights better because it is forced into maximum load, when vacuuming saw dust I don't believe you are getting full power. Therefore, I love the features on the Fuel Packout, but the brushed M18 is a better general purpose vacuum. JMHO

@@markc9871 it may very well be, I haven’t used it long enough to say for sure. I didn’t have any problems with my Gen 2 sucking up what I needed it to, but I haven’t had any problems with the Packout one either. My dry pickup is typically just service call type dust. I don’t use either of these vacuums on big jobs. If I wasn’t using Packout in my Truck… and more than anything if the Packout didn’t use the bags… I would have probably just bought another Gen 2 for my second Vacuum and saved some money. It has not failed me at picking up anything (unless the filter is clogged) Appreciate your opinion. You make great points that could help someone make the right decision for them 👍

Hella good video and review! I’ve always loved my original 2 gallon M18 vac, but recently, the battery mount for the M18 side disintegrated as I was putting a battery in! It was weird! Shattered into pieces like glass. I am currently in process of trying to warranty it, so in the meantime, I picked up the GEN 2 version, as I needed one like now. I was able to get it with some weird bag that works with the bigger M18 Vac on wheels. Home Depot had it on a hack, so I returned the bag, and the cost was right at a $100.00. Your reasoning is sound. Ive never liked to mix then up either. Man, that smell is nasty! One reviewer noted the GEN 2 had a little more CFM’s when it came to water lift, so you’re on the right track! Now I will be looking to buy the Packout Vac. Thanks a lot Pal! 🙄😆 Good content! 👍✌👊

As for now I cannot convince myself to get battery powered vacuum for work. I have one of those small vertical vacuums, but I use it only at my place. As a Makita user I don't want to get into another battery platform, but I also use Systainers. I'll just wait when Makita makes Systainer-compatible vacuums. One of those things hardy anyone tells you when you get your shop vac or any job-related vac, is that you need at least two vacuums. Usually bigger and dirtier multi-purpose one and another smaller, cleaner, power-tools orientated. Additionally it won't hurt to have one or two cordless vacuums. It's praiseworthy that you make really thorough yet compact reviews and you always leave parts numbers for accessories.

There are times the battery is convenient, but most of the time I am by power. I had a Dewalt one previously that allowed both a cord and battery as an option. It would be nice if more companies did that. Yeah, for corded I have the Festool for use with tools or drywall sanding… then I have a large cheap Ridgid for the nasty. I have converted my wife over to my old 18v Bosch vacuums on our hard floors and she loves them…. That then made me need to get my “Milwaukee Vacuums” since she uses them all the time 😂
@Stefan_Kawalec

@@MORGANSMaintenance Makita has some hybrid models, but right now I'd need something smaller and stackable. Yep, there's no better home vacuum than the shop vac. They just work so much better that their "residential" counterparts. And are usually cheaper, last longer and you can buy bags or accessories 10 years later. Not to mention removable batteries. Whereas most of home vacuum cleaners last a year or two. If by any chance you use it longer, there's a problem with consumables. I have to point out the bump in quality of your editing, especially the transitions.

I appreciate that…I’ve been learning a little every video. It’s all 100% new to me. Before starting this channel I never really filmed anything before and absolutely never edited anything. I’m also still working with all “free stuff” so I’m limited on what I can do… but I haven’t even figured out what all I can do with the free stuff yet 😂. Again, I really appreciate the feedback and encouragement 👍

I think a bag/no bag is a pretty big difference, the rest it just depends what you do 👍
