What do you prefer about it? I prefer the packout because of the mounting option, noise level, and hose on the outside, but I got mine for pretty cheap. I just wish the clasps and fit was a little better.

@@MyFortressConstruction The old model is more compact, it is easier to open the upper lid, it is easier to put the upper and lower part together after throwing out the trash, it is easier to grab for its fixed handle, and the battery lasts longer. We have both models in my pallet rack anchoring work, and I always use the old one.

This was a great video out of all the ones I have purchased and I have the original or the second GEN I should say but the only thing that’s getting me is the price difference. And I can buy the pack out feet. But the fuel I think is nice because You can put the bag and what not.

Thank you very much for the comparison. I wanted to see if the Fuel is worth the extra money. I think either will work for my needs, so I think I'm going to save the hundred bucks. Thanks again!!

I think the fuel is worth it if you want the pack out base and the hose on the outside of the vacuum. Otherwise, no, the additional suction wasn't important enough for me to upgrade.

Interesting review. I hate the cost difference, but the quietness on the fuel is extremely important.

That's a kind way to put my humor 😆. Yeah, the sound is jarring, especially in close spaces. And I find that if a tool is a need, just pay retail prices and get it. If it's a want, then be patient and see if your mind doesn't change or it comes on sale. Checking FB marketplace and eBay isn't a bad idea either.

Love the older one.... It's bullet proof when throwing it in the van. No hose to catch on anything. Been using it for 4 years without issue. Plus it is smaller. Tempted to buy the new one, but I'll run the old one into the ground 1st.

Yeah, I'm guessing it has to do with the way the pack-out gets loaded and you want to be able to open up the top without pulling it off.
@GeorgieCt
@GeorgieCt 15 күн бұрын
Yeah, but I think it’s just because when he wrapped the hose, he let the clips get stuck underneath. But something you just need to get used to because I have a lot of packout stuff in the way it’s organized. I have to either keep in mind that some clips might not close properly and set them up so they won’t get stuck or unstack everything

Funny and excellent observations/content. I came across this trying to find out if the DeWalt is quieter. I know it is weaker. You wouldn't happen to know the answer to that I suppose? Thanks for the good review.
@MyFortressConstruction
@MyFortressConstruction Жыл бұрын
I have had all three and I'm pretty sure the pack out is quietest and then the DeWalt and then the M18. I may be wrong but the M18 is very high pitched and I think the DeWalt isn't quite as loud. There might be a reviewer who shows decibels.
@markpennell4938
@markpennell4938 Жыл бұрын
@@MyFortressConstruction Thanks! Good to know. I did find one with decibels by Project Farm. He didn't have the Packout though, so his DeWalt was the quietest.

We have both versions and I can't really tell a performance difference between the two models. The old version works just fine for small jobs, and I prefer it over the pack-out version. The original version is more compact and fits better in tight places. I recently did a week-long job in a crawl that needed repairs and insulation and I could maneuver the smaller one around, below and in between the ductwork more easily. Just a thought, newer isn't always better.

Old one has a circuit board issue me and multiple people I work with all had same issue it stops sending power to moter seems to be mainly hvac and plumbers it happens to so don't know if it a moisture issue 🤷
@MyFortressConstruction
@MyFortressConstruction 2 жыл бұрын
I haven't run across that before so you're probably correct. It seems like a lot of cordless tools that are meant to be around water (pumps, vacs, sprayers, etc.) don't have very good seals and rely on gravity. Can you bypass the board and take the power directly to the motor? I've seen it done on some tools.

Thanks for the helpful comparison. I've been looking for a M18 vac to use for cleaning up the sawdust that my dust extractor misses in my woodshop. I'd been looking at the 0882-10 `M18 Compact Vacuum' but saw lots of reviews saying it would intermittently stop working, so started looking at the 2 vacs you compared. I don't have or need a Packout setup, so your video helped me choose the 0880-20 as it looks like the Packout features would get in the way and wouldn't be useful to me. Found the 0880-20P (kit that includes XC5.0 battery and standard M12/M18 charger) online for $150 w/ free shipping and just pulled the trigger. I usually buy 'tool only' but at that price it's like getting the vac and charger for free... Looking forward to some dirty and loud suck and blow jobs in the near future!

I actually just discovered my favorite vacuum and that is taking the 9 gallon cordless Ridgid shopvac and putting a battery adapter on it (they make Milwaukee to Ridgid adapters for $20 or so). It has 2x the suction and hose diameter of the 0880-20 and you can run it with 2 batteries for a little more power and runtime. The Vacuum is $99 at my local HD in store and if you ask the right assoocate, you can sometimes get a further discount. It's like a full size vacuum though, so if you want a compact vacuum then the M18 is better.

I like the dewalt vacuum cuz it has the option to be plugged in. Milwaukee didn’t do that . Sucks .
@MyFortressConstruction
@MyFortressConstruction 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I wish every "stationary" cordless tool had that option. A vacuum is right on the edge of being stationary. What I'm really hoping for is a dual battery flexvolt full size shop vac with the ability of the 120v adapter. Why DeWalt has only done that on their miter saw, I just don't get it...

Ha, yeah, you'd think they could make a vacuum that had it all... I really hated having to open up the Milwaukee compartment to change out the battery and put the hose away each time, so I ultimately decided on the Ridgid 9 gallon cordless shop vac. It's not very compact, but it has two battery ports which allow it to pull more juice from 5ah batteries and give it longer runtime between replacing batteries. It also has some decent suction to it. Much better than these little vacs. I bought it for $50 at a resale shop and purchased two adapters for $40 so I could use DeWalt batteries on it. Then I bought the longer more flexible hose. Best cordless vac by far from what I've used. I assume the new cordless vacs by Milwaukee would be even better. But if you need to be able to get in and out all of the time then the packout is hard to beat.

@@MyFortressConstruction I went with the non-fuel M18 2 gallon. I got it for 80 bucks. I'm going to use it to do stairs and windows and little carpentry jobs or if I'm working outside. I got a rigid shop vac in the basement if I need something bigger, but I got tight stairwells tight doorways so it's a pain around the house. Thanks for the video I'll deal with the sound. I'm wondering if you've tried just having the hose out but plugged into the exhaust just to have it out of the way when you're still working?
@MyFortressConstruction
@MyFortressConstruction 2 жыл бұрын
@@charleyweinhardt Yeah, I just meant when I was done. I couldn't leave it hanging out in my trailer and it was too long with the hose shoved into the exhaust port, and I'd inevitably need it to suck up a little debris and then have to put it all away again. Little nuisance but it added up. In the end there isn't a perfect vac because everyone's needs are different, but I am very happy for adapters and competition in the cordless market so that you can pretty much get what you want.
