Yeah ... But vince not a "fan boy." It's let the chips fall where they may which is good. We need an honest broker doing these reviews so we know how to spot best value. I'm mostly MWK with couple of bosch corded tools. But if FLX leaves MWK in the dust and keep seeing FLX is beating MWK in performance, quality, tool line-up, warranty and price, then when time for new tool, I'm ok jump ship -- if all makes sense. Still I'm expecting MWK will up their game.

I think better if they had done side ways not down as we do not know if one person pushes harder than another. If sideways, both have to just rest hand on tool letting the bit and motor do all work. Still think Flex would win. Going up 18v to 24v is 33% increase and not hard to believe flex won the bake off. Even so if someone gave me choice between MWK and FLX, Id pick MWK because it's a proven brand and has lot of other tools in their line up which are also readily available. All this means is MWK better not sit on their laurels. MWK needs to keep improving other wise new comers to trades gonna go with FLX.

Well, IMO still an impressive showing from FLEX once again. I was impressed during the live stream party here. This competition is a very good thing with that DW Power Detect and this new set of drills from FLEX. Having said that... something I want to make sure everyone understands: Milwaukee put out those drills how long ago? DW and FLEX, good on them for stepping their game up and following Milwaukee’s lead and kicking some serious butt. But do you all honestly believe that Milwaukee been sitting on their thumbs doing nothing for their next Gen drills (and by extension tools)? You know once the Gen 3 hammer was in final stages, they probably had already ripped that thing up and down and was speccing out, designing and testing the Gen 4. I’d bet a can of Coca-Cola that we see a Gen 4 drill in 12 months or less, and full innovation upgrades for many core tools in the M18 line up w/in 24 months. Which is, if you managed to read this far down, a good thing. Good job Vince and Nick! Let further testing and TTR’s commence!

To add to the live stream.. You knew flex was not going to lose, why would they put themselves out like that? You could tell the guys using the flex were putting more pressure on the tools while the guys using "the competition" were not. Just look at the cutoff demonstration, the flex guy was putting so much pressure on the wheel he almost slipped off what he was grinding, plus putting as much pressure as he did increased the chancethat the wheel would explode. Don't get me wrong, more tools on the market is a good thing. It pushed innovation to new heights while keeping cost in check. I'm glad they are in the market. Let's just not kid ourselves with their coming out commercial.

@@franklugo6928 I don’t disagree necessarily that it was a giant advertisement. I also don’t disagree that perhaps they should have done things differently. I do agree with MCT that some of that stuff that was done was a little shifty. Even with all of that going on, it was still a very strong showing from FLEX, whether I wanted it to be or not. I just wanted to make an objective comment about it. Personally I’m Team Red, but I have enough humility to say when someone else’s tools did a pretty good job. I just hope that makes my team work that much harder to stay at the top!

Vince I am still not convinced that just adding a larger capacity battery to a drill makes it more powerful. I think the motors and circuitry in tools are limited by their own electronics, so sticking a 10 AH battery or a higher voltage battery is not likely to give you more power on the tool, unless that tool is specifically designed to look for that larger battery like the Power Detect from DeWalt or the Flexvolt Advantage. On some of my tool review videos people keep saying I'm not comparing apples with apples if one tool has a different sized battery on it, but no one has proven it yet.
@lv9530

The multi tool tool was fried after 2 months and i only cut a bunch of soft pine door jambs, the hammer drill/driver started smoking and got fried about 3 months later.....both times i took the fried Milwaukee tool to an actual Milwaukee service outlet and the guy said it won't be covered because it was wear and tear....the tools looked brand new and were not abused.....i laughed at him and said what happened to the 3 and 5 year warranty.....he said it doesn't cover normal wear tear....if normal wear and tear is only 2 months on a multi tool and 5 months on a hammer drill/driver then Milwaukee needs their head examined.....Milwaukee got my money once and NEVER AGAIN...they are just a marketing hype company......so many of their tools and bits and accessories and hand tools will not last.....most of my buddies are contractors and they also gave Milwaukee a try in the last 5 years and they all went back to Makita, Hilti and Dewalt......going to buy a few Flex tools and give them a shot...excited to try them. Here's a real testament that keeps me sold on Milwaukee. I bought my M12 impact driver, hammer drill, led flashlight and screw gun all at the same time back in 2010. 11 years later after heavy use all still run strong and without problems. I have since only lost 1 battery and that may be due to me accidentally leaving it outside for a month in the dead of winter when we had record lows below freezing which would damage most lithium ion batteries. Of the remaining batteries I have noticed only a slight degradation in performance. This can be said for my Sawzall I bought 20 years ago. My old NiCad 19v hammer drill still works too 17 years later, though I converted the battery packs and charger to lithium ion. Flex might produce a great product, but the history of durability earned my brand loyalty

The kicker is.. flex has a lifetime warranty if you buy your tools this year. Also they've got the no sensor technology to make them more durable to resist breaking from being dropped. I'm actually a dewalt guy converted from a Milwaukee guy (Milwaukee rep ticked me off at a tool sale so I bought about $2K in Dewalt tools from their rep right in front of him lol) I've got a ton of Dewalt tools so I don't think I'll be switching. If I was in the market for a new line I wouldn't hesitate to go flex.

I’ve been an electro mechanical technician for over 20 years and I work with a lot of different equipment that is power by batteries brushed and brushless motors, In order for this test to be fair and accurate you have to have two brand new never used drills with brand new batteries, If one of the drills has more use than the other one the results are gonna be different because the battery will drop a little bit of amperage with usage in the motor will lose a little bit of power with usage as well. It might be something very insignificant but may affect the results of the test

It shows they really evaluated the competition and they are a late entry. They should be great. At the end of the day, it's about what works better. The other companies will step up their game now and those that don't will get left behind. The question is will Flex hold up over time. If EGO is to be an example, then yes, they will.

Honestly I trust your review of it much more then their launch. Though it passes up Milwaukee its not manipulated like their release video was. Random request of you guys. From experience and wisdom from you guys it is very clear that the right accessories will make a larger impact on experience per dollar. For example in my personal experience malco bits have worked 10 times better for me then any other. This is due to them not tapering the inside so when driving screws if they lean a little bit it doesn’t slip. So the actual request is to see more from you guys along those lines or even common fastener brands exc. Still super love the power tool head to heads.
